Hey guys.
Just started happening in the last couple of weeks.
Car is 05 Auto Exec Wagon.
This usually happens when in D and it shifts into 4th and then locks up the stall converter which drops rpm to ~1500rpm. The car will then proceed to labour and 'bunny hop'/surge.
-If I back off throttle slightly it usually stops.
-If i get it to kick out of stall converter to higher revs it is fine. It is also fine @100km/h
It seems that it only happens at those specific revs and load.
Suggestions?
Anyhelp would be appreciated.
Thanks.
Big Tone.
p.s. Does anyone have a Blaupunkt Single CD H/U for a VZ going cheap?
i have a very similar problem with my sv6 5speed auto, surges in top gear, holdens diagnosis is a shagged gearbox which needs replacing but on doing some further research it has something to do with the torque converter not fully locking and "chugging", although have not had this confirmed by a specialist yet
I've got a headunit sitting at home I may not use, I'll get back to ya on it
Sounds pretty much like the converter is slipping when it's meant to be fully locked up - so it's cactus. Does the lock up and unlock of the coverter seem abrupt, loud or not very smooth? You should barely even notice the converter locking up, other than the slight drop in rpm.

These types of products may work. And it's in a tube! What will they think of next.

The actual locking/unlocking of the converter is smooth. I just drove 300kms @ 100-110kph and it had no worries, only in the last 50kms of 80 zones it did it a bit and med/high load up hills when it was locked at 80kph.
Sometimes there is a waivering of revs only by a couple of hundred to indicate it wanting to lock up or something.
