hi guys,
just wondering how high mileage alloytecs are holding up..ive just bought my wagon (lumina) with 190k on it (highway klms) but was wondering if there was anyone else who has done more klms than this and how the engine was holding up..
btw besides replacing a idler pulley (too noisey) and a small oil leak coming from the front cover, everything is quite good so far (touch wood)
would you guys think the timing chain has already been replaced? the log books dont mention it but was wondering if it may have been done under warranty as a recall
I did 160k km, before hitting a lightpole. The engine is still fine, the car, uhhhh not so much.
VZ executive had it from 80000kms....now 153000km...its an ex cop car 2005.....all good no trouble just i get a stupid abs fault error message about 90% when i drive...holden dealer said they fixed it(went twice) but a week later it comes back,,,very annoying
battery has been changed about 2 or 3 times in 4 years
fair enough, just usually when the abs warning comes up, the battery dies
we service a wagon with the 175kw engine and it has done 300000+ kms. it has the usual oil leaks but still going strong. on the other hand if you don't service them they sludge up quite nicely. another car we do had 200000 on it with roughly 20 - 30000 service intervales the guy had to replace the engine because it seized solid.
186,555kms strong going like it new. just got powertrain code but that cos ive changed my system

130k approx. 2004 model.
Had the timing chain startup rattle for years now!
Non periodic engine service items replaced: PCV pipe, water pump and cap. Need to replace exhaust manifold gasket soon.
285k on an 04 Svz alloytec ute. Was goin strong web I sold it in December. The gear box was a little clunky and I replaced the TCM and PIM other than that just a few small things.

285K..wow so far we have a winner!! when you say the gearbox was getting clunky, do you mean it was a manual? what other items did you need to service? timing chains, o2 sensors, thermostat etc etc?
230,085 right now lol, but i'm the second p-plater to own itso it's had a hard life.
Semms to be going great, i change oil every 5000 and other than water pump and other little things, only major problem was gearbox 2nd gear sleeve and dog teeth were muntedapparently the guy who owned it before me liked to hang off the gear lever like it was his seatbelt and ruined the selector fork
otherwise It's as gutsy as ever![]()
dads taxi 06 statesman has almost 360k not to much issues all coils were changed 50k ago, and when the car starts when its stone cold it sounds like the old ecotec and cranks for around 5-6 times other then that she all good lol
It was an auto, just didn't change gears very smoothly. To be expected though, 285k is a fair bit of wear and tear.
Never had to fix anything with the engine but one of the plastic side bits of the radiator did split.
Other than that was still a great ute and I didn't exactly drive it like a granny either. Haha

I'm sitting at 233,276.4 KM at the moment. Just got it back from smash repairs with over 11k worth of fix.
