You would probably be looking at somewhere near 8 hours labour, plus parts.

    So possibly $1600

Based on a labour rate of $100/hour and estimated parts cost of $800 for chains, tensioners and gaskets and sealants?

But of course that would vary depending on workshop quote rates, and part prices.

My mechanic charges $60 an hour labor so that is about $500 labor, are the chains and tensioners really that expensive?

Couldn't agree more. You will need to purchase from GMH directly.

You must also factor in the cost of all the sprockets.

go to holden ask them for a written quote with all the parts you need.

take the part numbers from the quote, search for them on GM Parts Direct and order!
you will find this is a LOT cheaper then holden but still genuine.

Espically with the current exchange rate.

Remember guys Its called GENERAL MOTORS Holden for a reason, these engines may be assembled in aus but the parts come from all over the globe.
