Default Who else is as fussy as me when it comes to their Commodores?

Today it occured to me how obsessed I am with my Commodore! Since new It has never left my garage with a speck of dust inside or out and I always find time to shine my tires. I or anyone else has never eaten in it, or drunk in it, and no animals have ever been in it,Im a non smoker and spend 10-15mins parking it at times as I like to find the best spot I can to ensure it wont get damaged. I have a rule that no luggage of anysort comes inside my car and that it goes in the boot! I make sure I dead lock it and that it worked properly but first I errect the sun shade and always look back to check its safe. It's never spent a night outside my garage and I spend hundereds of dollars on Meguiars detailing equiptment each year. Since I purchased my Commodore I have washed and Vaccumed it weekly and keep a microfiber cloth in the glove box to wipe the dust From the dash at red lights. Once my wife accidently scratched my glove box With her purse and within an hour I had a brand new one fitted! And it still has that beautiful new car smell!! I love my Commodore and I love having conversations in the car park with other Commodore proud owners, I love driving it and going on long trips however when I get back out comes the hose and its wash time! Who else likes to take the time to keep ur car looking new?
    Couldn't be without my Commodore

lol i like to keep mine washed, polished and vacuumed, but jeez man not that badly lol.. I don't let animals inside of it as they usually leave hairs which are really hard and annoying to get off the seats.. But usually a once a week wash over usually keeps it looking sexy in my opinion..

hah now ive gotta find out where you live so i can go and dirty your car and watch you freak out lol.. =P

That sounds like you've got a bit of obsessive compulsive disorder going on there.
I wash my brother's falcon more than my ute. The only time I wash mine is when some inconsiderate bird flys over and shits on it...

And i thought it was just me...lololo
I owned my vt for over 10 years and the wife never got to drive it.
The same goes for this 1.

I usually end up washing it at least twice a week and the black 22"' rims need to be cleaned virtually every day.

I was so excited when i picked this 1 up i couldnt sleep the first night.
Ended up dragging out the spotlights for a 2am detailing session.

Funny story...my next door neighbor constantly gives me heaps about the constant cleaning.
He picked up his ...BLACK.. new navara a week ago and ive caught him washing it 3 times this week..
Needless to say ive enjoyed the payback ..

Your car would be one of the best second hand cars to buy then by the sound sof that. I was lucky to wash the vl every 3 months. I'm doing it probably once a fortnight. My car doesn't really get dirty and if it doesnt look that dirty- i won't wash it.

haha, if you look at my ride thread, you will see that mine is mostly clean, i even got best engine bay award for clenliness in a commodore cruise with 30+ cars attending. i think im a clean freak with mine, just have to work out how to remove swirl marks and which product works best. and by remove, i mean remove, not fill ins or cover ups

Well, I appreciate my car and I look after it, but not like the OP. My obsession died years ago,.

Mine gets washed, chamoised and detailed once a week usually on a saturday then quick detailed again on Sunday if I head out.

During the week it gets a spot free rinse most days to keep it looking good and get the dust off.

Being black it requires a lot of work but I dont mind as it looks shit hot when its clean.

The OP sounds really anal and obsessive, good on him/her for looking after their car though.

I wash mine once a week or when a bird shits on it, vaccum once every 2-4 weeks and give the interior a wipe down.... (dont really need to vaccum much because everyone that gets into my car knows to wipe their feet 1st)
    Clean windows once every month.
    Tyre shine is a must
I also make sure I get the best parking spot (usually an end spot next to the gutter and try and get as much space between me and the person next to me

But im not as bad as the OP, but my car is about 20 years old and already been battered by a 100 owners already lol

    Not as bad as the

You're not fussy unless you've got at least 3 coats of carnauba over at least 2 coats of sealant minimum!!!

I'm nearly as fussy/anal as the OP. Although being a dad competes for the time I'd LIKE to/used to spend on it.
I wash it about once a week with Meguiar's gold class and wax every three months with same brand wax. Vaccuum weekly if possible and Armour-all interior and exterior plastics regularly. I smoke in it and drink in it and let dry food, such as chips/biscuits be eaten in it occaisionally.
The young fella is allowed to drink a bottle of water in his toddler seat in the back and VERY OCCAISIONALLY milk, (with me watching him in the rear-view mirror like a hawk)
I thought I was the only one who parked in the furthest car space, against a kerb!
    My wife hates my car......

Waste of time fussing over a common car such as a Commodore as someone who doesnt care for theres as well only needs a decent detail at sale time and it will sell for the same. You might not want to believe that but its true.

Youre obviously not an enthusiast nor someone who takes pride in their possessions so I wouldnt expect you to understand.

Agreed! That's a pretty severe comment by gazzas. Most of us care at least a BIT about our Commodores. Different story for something like my missus' Kia, though!

My car is kept clean and maintained but its nothing special only a work hack.
Fuss over yours as much as you like and its still worth the same as mine.
I take pride in what i have and resent the assumption made by the above posters.
Maybe when some of you grow up you will understand.

Because you appear to be a little intellectually challenged I'll simplify it for you.

Enthusiasts dont give a shit about resale value.

They have pride in their possessions and take pride in keeping them looking as good as possible.

It isnt simply a car, its a hobby.

Calling someone immature for wanting to keep their car in top condition all the time is plain retarded.

The Little Red VZ Go-Kart was an expensive 'catch' for me (even though it was purchased and registered as a business vehicle, I'm still wholely in charge of it and very, very personal with it).

And it's not just a pretty face, but an excellent long-distance chariot.
After a long, lonely cruise up to Wilcannia via Broken Hill in early March, then down to Ivanhoe and Deniliquin and back to Geelong (with the only noteworthy 'glitch' being I did not see a kids' sandpit in Mildura and parked in it, causing a massive bog that, when I revved, plastered sand all over Creation...), it required 3 hours of thorough cleaning inside and out on the banks of the Edward River at Deni. Sand, red outback bulldust, locust splatter and general travelling detritus. I enlisted the help of two laze-about dreadlocked hippies (rewarded with a share of my slab). Being all black inside (with sexy black sheepies) means any specks are highly visible. Got a small rechargeable vacuum last Christmas and that is used to clean the car on the go — and anybody munching sausage rolls in the passenger seat! Yup, fastidious and demanding! "This Go-Kart must be kept clean and stylish!". Even Holden Techies must tread very carefully: RiCeY, listen up, you: greasy paws prohibited, unwashed hair is OUT! Oh, and filthy oil-smeared boots are a definite no-no... covers on the seats please and no flickin' boogers on the way out!

Start of week now and the go-kart begins with a spray at the car wash soon, a hot wax and that's it until next weekend! The show-car begins its trip around the traps. Phew—
