    Default HELP! Crankshaft Pulley.

Just bought the powerbond pbk007 pulley set from ttt performance engineering and cant get the crankshaft pulley off to replace it with the new underdrive one.

The pulley bolt was supposed to be the hard part but it undid with a little effort with a torque wrench but there is no way the pulley is moving. I tried using a 3 claw pulley puller and instead the puller just bent and broke after many attempts.

Going to go buy a new puller (hopefully somewhat better) but how the hell can i get the thing off? any suggestions?

Use a light hammer, and try to use quick taps on the surface of the pully, should break the rust off it. By the way, underdrive pulley's are scams.

    Need a better puller?

An underdrive pulley is a scam? Hows that when it does what it claims to do? It reduces the load of the accessories on the crank. It may not give huge increases in power but it does give some.

Managed to get hold of a better puller and got the pulley off! Before you say its the "Placebo effect" the car drives with less effort and revs freer, I'm not saying it gave me astronomical gains , but it has done something noticeable.
By the way, any idea on how to stop the crankshaft from turning when tightening the bolt on the last couple threads? The new pulley is solid so I can't jam anything in it, its an auto too.

So you are driving around with a loose pulley? Might be 100% underdriven shortly.

apparently you remove the starter motor and use either a flywheel locking tool or just wedge a big screwdriver into the ring gear to stop the motor turning.

Put Trans into Park & apply the handbrake hard on. That should be enough to be able to torque up the bolt. (about 200ft/lb I reckon is enough).

handbrake will only stop the rear wheels and putting it in park will only stop everything from the gearbox back, the torque converter will still allow the engine to turn.

Trey, i have reasons for saying that, I've explained it before, but i cant be bothered anymore. Just believe that the biggest difference you feel, is what you think you feel.
