Default 2005 VZ - Cluster Programming

I have a Series II VZ Executive Wagon with the factory cluster. I want to change it to a triple screen cluster (they look heaps better, and I want the multiple visible options). I know I'd need to have it programmed to suit, but what I want to know is, can I program it myself, and if so, what's needed to do so. I would love to have a play with it, and see what else I can make it do.

Holden will need to reprogram it,If it its a calais cluster They need to change the airbag loop to suit your car as it will think theres another airbag. also if its from a v8 model they will need to change it suit a V6.

Greg (aka Phreddy on here) will be able to sort out reprogramming for you, as it is definitely not something you can do yourself.

Thanks Phyco. I will track him down. I have seen a few posts from him regarding these sort of things.

Mind you, it all depends if I can get one for the right price, they don't come up too often

I have send Greg an email, just waiting for a reply. Being Easter though I doubt it will be any time soon. I also just read he's in NSW, I'm in VIC.... is there anyone closer?

The Cluster I ended up getting is from a 2005 VZ, V6 Berlina. Mine is a 2005 VZ, V6 Executive. Other than the fact the Berlina is Climate control, what else needs to be programmed? I wouldn't have thought the cluster would have anything to do with the Air/Con anyway??

Oh, and the new cluster has 217,400Km on it, where my car has only just done 210,000KM (approx).

I don't want to stuff anything up, but I am interested in what is actually involved, and what needs to be changed/programmed. Electronics is my area of interest. I just changed the Indicator/Central Locking relay in my BCM for the indicator lights that have flattened my battery once already when I locked the car one afternoon and didn't realise uintil the next morning

When fitting the WL cluster to my VZ I had to get air bags, climate, wheels/tyre size and sender unit changed in the cluster. Greg also changed it to blue dials with white needles. was great. I now have a spare VZ calais unit also converted to blue with 000,208kms on it sitting in the shed I should sell one day (wife liked the WL over the Calais one)
