Default Looking at a VZ S ute - have some general questions

    Hi all

I am in the market for a ute. Originally I was looking at a VE, but due to how much they are still worth I am now looking at a VZ S pack ( and hey, I actually reckon they look better than a VE ).

Wife and I need a second car, so I figure a ute will be handy. This car isn't going to be a show pony, will be looking at putting my mountain bikes in the back, picking up loads of soil, mulch and other garden stuff as well as trips to the tip etc.

Been reading these forums but just have a few general questions.

    1. How much do you reckon I should pay for a VZ S pack ( white, blue or silver ) Auto, stock as a rock with under 150,000kms and a FULL dealer service history?

    2. My only mods will be to put some different holden rims on it ( 17s or 18s ) as well as lower it with Kingsprings ( not ultra lows or anything ). Just wonder if this will effect how much I can put in the back and will it cause the rear to scrape?

    3. What is the difference between the S and the SS bodykit? is it just the side bars and lower lip on the front? are these easy to come by?

any advice on the above would be great. As it's my second car, I can wait for the right ute to come up, hopefully I won't have to wait to long!

    Hi mate,

1.Anywhere between 13-18K depanding on condition, k's etc
2.If your worried about it scraping probably best you dont lower it but if you do use heavy duty springs
3.I think the S and SS kits are the same but some S paks didnt have fog lights in the front bar.

The autos are absolute slugs, get a manual if possible and you won't regret it.

Here is a few pics of my old ute with about 400Kg in the back and sitting on Lovells SL springs.

Did the VE have SIDI? Not sure if that's a dumb question.

    Thanks for the advice.

Regarding the auto, I actually prefer an Auto in this case as it will be my second car and it won't be driven like a perforamce car ( and my wife can drive it ). Saying that, if a manual came up I wouldn't pass on it - seems like 90% of the utes I have been looking at are autos.

Thanks for the photos - that's a massive help. Since I am going to be using the ute to carry stuff I might not get it lowered.... ( but they looked sooooo good lowered ).

Hey mate i just bought my VZ ute about 2 months ago, its been lowered in the back with king springs an ive had a load of about 300kgs or so in the back an it hasnt sat down to much, it only had 36k on the clock an i got it for 15gs, so anywhere between 13gs an 18gs is good like vex said, an he is also right about the body kit too, good luck buying one, you will have fun with it once you get it
A Commodore is a passion. Anything else is just a car
