Hi guys, im new here and i have done some searching but none that sounds like my issue
I have a 2006 vz ss ute (auto) that has a vibration at higher speeds... More prominent at 105+ kph. it will vibrate through the cabin and when its not doing that it will vibrate the steering wheel side to side, sometimes quite harsh. i have replaced Z bar front and rear bushes, rear diff mount, replaced tyres, replaced rims, balanced & aligned wheels & tyres, changed rotors and pads, checked engine mounts, no cracks, leaks, all bolted tight. checked the trans mount and tailshaft for bushing wear and tear. checked suspension and also have had it looked at by centerline suspension and they have not had the slightest idea on what it was also. they suggested rotors but ive changed them.... i have done a fair bit or reading other issues and used them to check my own and none so far have fixed this issue...
anyone at all work for holden with any insight or have been involved in such a miserable issue with their car? i drive alot of freeway driving and its at the point where id prefer to trade it in then keep it as i can not find the answer to this problem by anyone.
cheers guys.
Send a PM to 'Stealthy'.
i did... he has no idea why id PM him.....
Sorry. Should have been 'Ricey'.
lol
ok vibrations around the 100kph mark that travel through the steering wheel are almost always wheel balance related but I see youve had the wheel balanced and changed tyres and rims so that rules them out.
Warped rotors should only cause vibration when braking generally.
Id be looking at everything the front wheels hang off so your control arm and castor rod bushes, tie rod ends, front struts/strut top bushes could be completely farked and even a wheel bearing allowing play in the wheel but to be that far gone it would be noisy as hell.
Hard to be more specific without driving the car myself...
Silver Certified.
well im in melb, and your a long way away... but when it was at centerline suspension we went through varios bushes, standard, non gen, the strut brace on and off, there is no evident of wheel bearing noise and free play... so im stumped. but thanks for the help so far... appreciate it
where abouts in Melbourne are you from? Dad has a shop in coolaroo near broadmeadows and he specialises in suspension repair and the like could have a look at it for ya if you wish. Let me know in a PM.
ok sorry its taken so long to reply... ive since put new bushes in the front end, new struts, new rack (leaking), new top hats etc... still there. only thing left is a wheel bearing i think. unless its totoally not front end related but i can not see how that is possible.... but ive been wrong before, and will be wrong again im sure. it did tow a boat about 5 times but find that the boat has anything to do with it....
