    Default Neon light boot install

    Hey guys,

so im after a subtle lighting install on the VZ, pretty much like this one here:

    (4th Picture down)

    My VY Clubsport R8

What im asking is what kind of neon tube is needed and how can i go about hooking it up to one of the amps so it turns on when the car does, i dont want the tube itself to be visible but just the light coming off it onto the sub box when the centre seat is down.

    Any help is appreciated,

    1FATVZ

Led strips are the go. Haven't put any in the boot always been in the front. I think you should be able to use the 12volt positive from the battery and the remote wire. Will turn on when the car is on but not all the time.

Ah really? So all you need to is disconnect the boot light and wire up the new on to positive negative?

yeah bascially, dont disconnect it, just hook up the wires from the led to the light socket and leave the original globe out

I prefer to to tap into the original light wires and tape them up good. You'll have to try the wires both ways until it works as I think LED'S are reverse polarity.
'Ah well, I suppose it had to come to this.'

^ yeah thats what i meant in post 12. You cant just cut off and hook up LEDs, you need to tap in e.g hooking the LED wires to the back of the terminals (which connect to the socket) and tape it up so it stays in.

Ended up getting a 12" blue cold cathode tube from supercheap for $20, cut the cigarette lighter connection off and wired it straight to one of my amps in the boot, so it turns on and off with the stereo,

initially did red, wasnt a fan so changed it to a blue one today. All the wires tucked behind the amp and the tube was double sided taped into the top section of the centre back seat..so the tube is not visibile from the inside or out but the light shines through nicely from inside...ill get a picture up tonight when it gets dark,
