Hey guys.
I was just wondering if anyone has retrimmed their roofs to black or something alike? Have a VZ executive and hate the cream in it. Also, are the pillars able to be painted with vinyl dye? (Black). Spending $200+ on a Calais/SS roof/pillars seems a bit extreme.
i retrimmed my old vt roof in a bone leather. it was rather easy apart from getting it in and out. handy hint, dont be skungy on the spray on adhesive, you get what you pay for. and the plastic trims should be easily painted with that VHT vinyl dye stuff.
Thanks for thatAny recommendations on adhesive? (I've found this is recommended at a few places - 3M )
Also, looking at using black suede, any "tips" I should know?
picked up my roof carpet or whatever.. it was 89$ and extra 10 to fit it from a local trim shop, i didn't even think of doing it myself at this price![]()
Where is that mate? I live down Redcliffe way and my roof lining is coming off, but I would like it dark grey to match the rest off the interior. Driving to the Sunshine Coast would be easy as for me.

the reason i chose leather is because the adhesive cant seep through no matter how much u spray on! if you want to use suede then look for something thats backed. because you'll have big glue stains showing through.
basically you just pull the trim out. remove the old fabric, scrape of that yellow foam crap with a dustpan/wire brush making sure there is no foam left on it or else you'll have little lumps in your finished product. lay your fabric over the top and cut to size so there is a good 10-15cm overhang on all sides. then spray your glue on the trim and apply the fabric in sections starting from the back (i found this easier as the front has more tricky bits. grooves and curves etc.)
3m is probably the your best bet! i think it was $15 a tin when i did mine. you'll need probably 2 tins.
I did the headlining in my VY with black fur...... anyway, I followed this guide and all went well.
HOW TO replace headlining - Very detailed
I just glued the fur over the original headlining.
I found that, believe it or not, the cheap "Export" brand of black paint worked best on all the interior plastic trims, I did the B pillars and the A pillars that run down each side of the windscreen. Around three years now and no dramas.

Would also like to know where u got it at that price...
How do you guys trim it? In or out of the car? Do you just fold the head lining to remove it from the car?
Follow the How-to closely and it won't break. I'd say a replacement would not be cheap, unless you could get a good one from wreckers.
