    Default Stupid questions

These are probably the most stupid questions that can be asked on these forums. So I am prepared for some abuse.

    1) The alloytec 190 intake manifold. Will it fit the alloytec 175?
    2) If yes, is there any improvements?
    3) Any parts off the 190 that are worth putting onto the 175?

I am mainly going for the looks, as I have seen the awesome black of the 190 manifold and like it alot. Failing that I will just polish my 175 manifold until it looks nice (idea thanks to Impulsive)

    Should fit.

Although the VIM (variable intake manifold flap) would not be connected. Thus, no performance improvement.

Been thinking of doing this myself. Looking at a driver from Jaycar to get the VIM to work.

    Frequency switch
    And again.

May not work because of the can-bus system (all I can find is the tacho output wire from the ECU, brown/red). May need a canbus bypass also. Though I am by no means an expert. Anybody, feel free to correct me or contribute on this .

By vim do you mean the solenoid at the back of the manifold? It only opens under w.o.t, but other then that they are fairly the same, in fact the manifold i am polishing is off an executive, so it doesnt have a slot for the solenoid.. but it fits..

Yes. Are you sure it only opens under that critera?

I was think of making it open at say 3 to 4000 rpm with the switch.

Might try the tacho output tomorrow.

    Thats very good to know.

I will add to my question though. The intake manifolds. What kind of sensors does it have, and where are they located? I have been tempted to buy a second one, cut it open, see what makes it tick, try improve and smooth it and then TIG weld it shut.
If anyone has done this before and has pictures of the internals it would be great. I used to be a mechanic and loved pulling apart stuff to see how it worked.

With that DIY mod, adding a manifold insulator would still be possible? No clearance issues like a CPR6+insulator?

no clearance issues. also to note, as the other thread says, its very difficult to do, and not something that can be tackled over a weekend

Nah of course its not a quick job. you'd have to get a couple manifolds from the wreckers and fiddle with them

Yea thats what i was thinking. Maybe porting it down so it creates a whirlpool effect with the air? Kinda like a velocity stack?

ive read other things on here, porting the lower intake manifold, or some peopl call the runners can have adverse effects to compression, but i dont see how.. if u have the $$ get a custom made lower intake, not on angels but straight down.. would be awesome but expensive

Its more than just the intake manifold for the power difference
The main difference is the 190kW version has variable cam phasing on both intake and exhaust camshafts. The 175kW only has it on intake side (i think it was intake)
