Default Consumption economy Fuel average liters Km

Hey everyone, I hope this helps alot others.

Whats is your fuel consumption economy / average liters Km on a VZ 6cyl Alloytec or stato / caprice (heavier)

Mine is an 05 Wl caprice 6Cyl using
    16.6L/100km @ av 29km/h.

I drive like a grandpa thou, lol.
Not that bad but I never thrash it at.
    Just normal driving.

Things done so far: (excluding performance mods*)
    - BMC panel filter is clean.
    - Plugs have recently been changed.
    - Fuel filter recently replaced.
    - Always running 98 octane.
    - Have already added a injected cleaner.
    - Throttle body + intake manifold cleaned.
    - Coolant changed.
    -12mm mace insulators installed*

    Iv got pacemaker extractors n a 2 1/4 catback.

Indeed Every lil mod helps, I just need to get my LPG retuned but before it , I'm getting the ss induction and the 20% under drive pulley kit.

Hopefully my fuel consumption decreases after the tune cause it's sitting pretty high.

Not sure if those figures are average but on my previous car (WL STATO) it was much lower @ around 11.5L/100km at the same ave speed.

    She's a 2004 Wl CAPRICE 3.6L 190KW on 135,000 Km.

    Why's the difference?

    What's yours like???
    And any advice?

    Cheers
    Dave.

I have a VZ Executive 175 kw 4-speed auto, completely stock. Drive a mixture of city and highway driving on a daily basis. Plenty of city driving on the weekends. Fuel consumption is around 10.5 - 11.0 L/100 km. As for my driving style? Well, I don't like to hang around.

This 'grandpa' style driving you're referring to could be causing that very high fuel consumption. I used to go very easy, barely past 1500 rpm back then - 13.0 L/100km. After shoving in the boot a bit, pushing it around 2000 - 2500 rpm, my fuel consumption went down to as low as 10.5 in the city! Also try to maintain a constant speed as much as possible, I drive nearly all the time with cruise control, city and highway.
The only Exec in Saudi that's now properly badged!

My Crewman uses 18.6 (highway) to 24.2 (city) on average. Though that said my engine is far from stock, its been stroked to just under 4ltrs on the 175 Alloytec, thats the main reason I would attribute it to being fuel hungry.

Edit: Its the 6 Speed, and I drive it like its stolen.

Yo Caprilicious, your fuel consumption is extremely malicious.

What consumption do you get on LPG?

A stroked Alloytec.....? I call shananigans.

Not one of you guys has mentioned what your average kph is to get those quite extrordinary figures for city driving.
Without comparing your L/100klm with your average speed your fuel figures mean nothing, they are just a number.
My LS2 auto does 17.5-19.5L/100klm wth average speeds 23-26kph city driving does around 13-14@ 35-45kph suburbs driving and 9.5-11 @ 70-85kph country driving.

    * Yo Caprilicious, your fuel consumption is extremely malacious.*

    Lol that's rhymes.

My fuel consumption on LPG is about 400ks out of a 65L of gas.

N I didnt understand the third part. Lol

    Thanks for the detailed info

    Comparing:
    Ur LS2 auto does 17.5L/100klm @ 23km/h
    with mine
    L67* v6 doing
    16.6L/100km @ 29km/h,

This data proves that there is something wrong with my consumption as it is near the same as the usage of an 8cyl.

Referring back to the OP, what do you guys think may be the problem?
What else do I need to look at?

    Cheers
    Dave.

Could be your o2 sensors getting old and lazy.

The stroked comment was for the Devil (Azazel).

What's the best way I can find out if my oxygen sensors are stuffed?

How much should they cost for the v6 alloytec?

Are they easy to replace myself?

    Cheers.

I bought replacement front sensors 12 months ago off Ebay from a place in Melbourne @ Coburg Nth.

They were Bosch (same as genuine) & cost $130 @ for the front O2 sensors.

There are also two rear sensors, but they aren't normally the problem when it comes to fuel consumption from what I've been told. Cost for those is about $70 @.

As for installation - quick search here will find the info you need.

Was that $130 for both? Or each.

My exhaust is twin throughout the car. 2 cats, 2 mufflers, 2 resonators 2 exhausts. Double the trouble. Lol

My sv6 has been as low as 7.8L/100km @ 100km/h, (obviously doing a lot of highway driving.) Now its sitting on 11.1L/100km @ 55km/h and thats with suspected low compression in 1 of the cylinders (i say suspected because i've had it checked, found and fixed a few potential problems but still has rough idle and havent had time to do a compression test.)

    Mods: Mace CAI,
Full 2 1/4 Cat Back exhaust including Pacemaker Headers, high flow cats and mufflers
    3.46 diff gears.

    @ = each.

So I paid $260 for a pair of front O2 sensors. The rear O2 sensors are cheaper.

Just have a hunt on Ebay. I've seen them as low as $110 @ but I bought Bosch which GM just rebadge as genuine 'Holden' parts.

175kw alloytec ute is getting 10.5L/100km at an avg of around 49km/h. A mix of gandpa and 'spirited' driving... That being said it's improved since i put brand new NGK laser platinum spark plugs in last w/e...before that I couldnt get it below 11L/100km. Have 100,000 kms on the clock.

I don't think it's too bad for city driving.

Ok so, I changed both oxy sensors today.

    Old oxy sensor

    New oxy sensor:

And I also serviced my car today

Flushed the old oil out using:

Filled her up with a fully synthetic nulon 10w-40 oil.
She was so thirsty so ended up drinking exactly 6.5L of oil.

Then added some magic to finish off with some extra protection.

Now I haven't had the chance to go for a long drive to see how my fuel consumption has improved yet.
So hopefully by tmrw I can update you's on the results of changing my oxygen/O2 sensors in relation to consumption.

    Thanks.
    Dave.

Did you use a o2 socket to remove them or what?

Did you have to remove the cat's to access?
