Hey i read a s*#tloads of treads about tapping alloytecs but noone has a clue what it is ?. It is a tapping noise on the drivers side only happens when a temp and is rev depended up to 1500rpm then goes away and sounds like a clang sound and not the sound of a timing chain. Any help thanks steve

alloytecs are a noisy engine when its comes to these sorts of things, I've had the similar problem but mine was around 2500rpm.
Turned on i had a split in the power steering hose, so just replaced it and was all good haven't heard it since.

How many Ks how you done?
Has the problem always been there? when did you notice it?
Have any loss of fluids?
How warm is the car when it does it?
