Hey guys just need abit of help from a non-biased person (not from a tyre shop)
I have had 2 sets of rubber on my 20" wheels...
First set that came with the tyres were Zeetex hp 225/35/20 and second set are Kuhmo KU31 235/35/20
both sets have lasted me around 20-25000 as i do 500km a week (MOSTLY highway/main roads) each set have lasted a year. Being a stock barge I dont race it nor have either set seen a single burnout.
the zeetex are worth around 180ea and the kuhmo were 260ea
both sets had around 10-15000km left on them but both sets have had air bubbles in one or more of the tyres and also both sets had tyres that started to split.
my problem is I now need to get new tyres but dont know what way to go...the kuhmos drove great but at 70ea more a tyre im not sure if its worth getting again if it will last the same time. Then again i suppose $280 extra may be peice of mind for the kuhmo's. Might i also add i have always run 40psi though them and do get them rotated from time to time but the kuhmos were only aligned when fitted (august 2010) and i havent had one up until yesterday.
My question is what do you guys recommend? my car is an 05 vz berlina so i do have the option of different load ratings (92/93/95) etc etc although the 235 do scrub the rear guards even though they have been rolled.
Any help would be great.

dont get diamond backs lol, in the end, it does pay off to get a good brand like bridgestone, as they last longer, and wear more evenly. the rubber compound in them is also good quality compared to cheaper brands
I have Dunlop SP3000A. No complaints and pretty good in the wet.
A lot of guys recommend Toyo Teo or Falken 452.
Do not buy cheap tyres!
I have Toyo Proxes 4's and they're fantastic. I had Nankang's before and I thought they were rubbish, especially in the wet and they wore really quickly.
Like the others have said, don't skimp on tyres. Not only safety but nothing worse than buying crap tyres, having them wear quickly and having to buy more.
i am having the same problem at the moment not knowing what tyres for my 20s, on my old set of 20s which were stolen luckly had insurence i swear they were alot fatter compared to the ones now which are 225/30/20 i think which look dreadful and skinny? just wondering would 245/30/20 fit all four or any other suggestions?
cheers
Can't speak for the rear in your case. But 245's on the front are mighty close to the strut spring seat.
I would go 245/30R20 for sure, more rubber on the road, less likely to rash your wheels etc etc.
As for tryres, for budget 'performance' tyres you can't go past Federal 595, people often compare them to the KU31 but I have used both and liked the Federal a lot better, better wet grip, quieter tyre. If you are wanting something cheaper, but not exactly Chinese crap i'd go for some Nexens. Nexen are generally pretty good, the N6000 range etc still handle very well in the wet, especially considering their price. Better than Fulcrum and roadstone and triangle and all the other cheap cheap stuff out there.

Lol!!! Fulcrum is that real brand lol.. Yeh that what I was leaning towards just keep getting mixed ideas, note that I haven't got rolled guards and it's. Not lowered and it's a sv6 ute. So 245/30/20 u think will be sweet?
I rate nexen N3000.. they are a mid range tyre, mid - hard compound, soften up when hot and in the hills, last a while, and handle great in the wet..
Life starts at 200km/h
I know you didn't want advice from a tyre store but this ^^^^^ is exactly why advice from a tyre store is needed. It's all very well to specify that one tyre is better than another, but it's another thing to look at your available options..many of the tyres recommended above are NOT available in the correct LEGAL size for your vehicle. If as your details suggest, you are driving a VZ - then there is only 1 tyre size which is legal on your car and that is a 245/30R20.
225/35R20 is outside the legal 15mm restriction as is 235/35R20 (unless it's a ute or came with standard 215/60R16)- I know, I know, many people run a 225/35R20 - reason: they are cheaper than equivalent 245/30R20's and the range is bigger. Also they were available long before manufacturers started making 245/30R20's...
Now looking at the 245/30R20 you need to bear in mind that you need a min 92 load rating...sooo... you need an XL (Extra Load) 93 tyre. This limits your tyre options significantly to ~ 4different brands (possibly more but not many and definately no premiums)....
Achilles ATR Sport, Neuton NT5000, Altenzo Sport Comforter, Nankang NSII.
All of the premium tyres available in the 245/30R20 size are only 90 load rated so won't be legal.
I'm not trying to rubbish the recommendations made above, but simply trying to highlight that many of the recommendations are inappropriate for your vehicles tyre size requirement.

cheers for the advice mate finally a straight answer from someone, was looking at old picture off old wheels and I think I can make out they were actually nankangs. Il have look around see how I go will keep up to date with what tyres I get
