Hey Guys
I've put a deposit on a 2005 vz exec 145000kms.
It ticks all the boxes. I called it the unicorn because I thought it I would never find it.
The local g.m.h dealer sold it new;the
same dealer serviced it regularly for the fleet owner
they traded in at same dealer.
Same dealer sold it 2nd hand to the 2nd owner
He serviced it at the same dealer.
Seller took it to the same g.m.h dealer for a roady today.
They picked the screen as chipped and now the scary one,
coolant "dripping or weeping " from behind the timing case.
The seller had brought the unicorn from the same dealer 9 mths earlier and got an aftermarket used car warranty at time of purchase. 2 months ago he got the water pump replaced under the warranty and then 3 weeks ago he found a few drips still going. Took it back to the dealler who replaced the radiator hoses.
Must of been something going on around there.
The holden dealership gave him a quote of $1500 to rectify the problem they found today.
Sounds like the dealer knew it was there and tried to do a patch up.
,
doesnt look like the warranty will cover this job
he freaked and ranaway with the unicorn.
He Called me later today and said he took it to a radiator place who did a pressure test and found zilch. The seller believes the dealer was just trying to drum up a bit of work ."hmmm"?
I've looked at lots of vz's previously, and more than one seller said they had this issue addressed between 120/150kms.They said its a butterfly shaped "o" ring in there that perishes.
As of tonight no R.W.C has provided.
I'd like to put it out there for ya thoughts.
Is this rare? common? unusual?
Is $1500 over the top for this work?
any thoughts guys?
id like to know too, because i have what seems to be a similar problem
so where is the used car 3 year 175000 warranty that this dealer provides?
If it's leaking from the seal you mention the coolant should also have mixed with the sump oil. In that case I would run away.
Additionally, I would have thought that seal would not show any external signs of coolant if it has failed.
Never heard of the seal in question failing or any issues relating to it.
