Hi All,

Recently purchased a VZ exec wagon late 2006 model. The car has just clicked over 90,000km. I have only travelled 400km and on two occasions the orange light on dash has come on, service soon alarm and the drive trans symbol flashes on and off. When this happens the car at low speed entering a driveway drives like the handbrake is on. If i stop the car and restart the engine light stays on and the alarms are still present but the car drives perfectly. If the igntion is left of for 5 or so minutes the lights and alarms reset themselves....Oh and the speedo seems to be working also.
I have checked the code and it is PO500 Vehicle speed Sensor. is it common for the Speed Senors to fault intermittantly on the VZ or is there a possibility of something more sinister happening in the drive train or wiring. Prior to purchasing the vehicle the well known Timing chain and sprocket issue had been addressed and all parts replaced as required. All that seems fine and it looks like the boys that replaced the timing chains and gears have done a good job.
I am a Diesel Mechanic with plenty of experience on sensors and wiring syatems so technical replies will not confuse...Thanks in Advance..Brad
