Gear box problem! Please help!

Hey guys couple weeks ago I thought my box was slipping, wasn't selecting 1st, but would change to 3rd and 4th fine.

So I changed the fluid and filter and that was that. What I thought, problem solved.
Untill about 20 mins ago. Was driving fine, then stop at a set of lights and wouldn't go into fisrt ( 4 speed auto ) whether I would selected on the t bar or put my foot down, just stays in second.
If I turn the car off for 5 or so mins, it will be fine for the rest of the night.

Also for the last few months it's been shifting into 2nd ####ing hard, enough to chirp 2nd around a corner.

So what could the problem be? Solenoid?

Anyone ? Some place said $400 and that might not even fix it!
