hey as its that time of year when we get to spend a bit on our cars, just wondering what would be the best mod to do to the sv6, mainly looking for more power, as i do 1/4 mile racing. which one would offer the better time reduction mod
1. vcm tune - can get for $660
2. diff gears - found some 3.46 gears with lsd
3. extractors - buy off ebay for around $500
time at the moment with catback is 15.2 1/4 mile, what time diferences would any of these mods make if anyone knows
thanks in advance
Diff gears will net the best result, but all of them will shave time off.
The extractors you can get from me for $396 plus shipping![]()
depends how cheap i get these gears, i might pm u![]()
if u dont do much hiway kms go 3.90 min, if ur chasing 1/4 times, juz my 2cent
Is it auto or manual?
LSD currently?

Na auto sv6. Currently non LSD, I was jibbed when I bought it
where can you get the VCM for $660 ?
hi torque on gold coast, another tuner in tweed heads, theyre getting pretty cheap nowadays.
what would be potential lower times that are achievable with my time at 15.2 with either of extractors, tune or dif gears? like .1 or .2 of a second off my time type of thing. only want rough estimates
4. Suspension and wheels
cant have it going quick and look like a school teachers car..

Life starts at 200km/h
suspension yes that will be getting done too, wheels can wait, they dont make me go faster haha
if you do the diff your speedo will need correcting so without a vcm tune hi-torque will have to charge you to correct it,
if you do vcm then diff hi-torque shouldn't charge for the correction
but best to ask kent this first
cant you recalibrate the speedo using a tech2? the holden guys owe me a favour, so if they can do it, should cost next to nothing for me
yes it can... but if you are going diff.. stay away from 3.9, its too high for what you drive... you spend more time on the highway then at the 1/4..

so ive fitted a 3.46 diff in my car last night, and wow, it pulls so hard now, if it helps anyone, i have recorded myself, and timed it multiple times, taking into consideration that 120 on the speedo is actually 100, and 0-100 time has improved by around half a second. definately a worthwile mod to do to get some zip into your sv6
I have all 3, diff, extractors, 150cell racing cats, tune, cai, manifold spacer etc.........
Honestly...... buy a V8 if you want more power, this is what I am going to do. But honestly. Diff will make the biggest diff on launch and quarter mile time.
Extractors and CAI help, but only if the car is tuned 'super well' by a pro. Problem is these cars ECU's suck balls! They are a pain in the rear end to tune and you cant get much out of them.
A newer SIDI or any V8 utilises mods alot better due to the ECU software/layout.
