Question Colour coded paint for Adventra body kit ?

Hi all adventra owners. Looking to get an LX6 but hate the black plastic of the bodykit. Holden dealer tells me there is no holden option for colour coded paint job, but i just noticed that the HSV Avalache has a colour coded kit.

Anyone had there body kit painted? where? how much? what colour? would you do it again?

Thanks

Hi Adventraman,
I too hate the black plastic bodykit and would be interested in having it painted if you have it done please post a few pics.

On another topic what’s your thoughts on the Adventra versus the Territory????

well us too, although black does its job. We must have had a 4x4 bullbar scrape the car when it was just 4 days old because it took a chunk out of the plastic.

Heres what they look like painted (well this is a CSV Crewman so you'll notice some minor mods but the shape is the same)

http://www.ls1.com.au/forum/showpost...60&postcount=3

I reckon they look much better painted.

I'm interested too but cant imagine how much a spray shop would charge for the task

Hi Adventra LX6,

I'll continue to look into it, and post if I find anything useful.

On the Territory question, I've always liked the look of the Territory body, but when I sat in a Ghia after getting out of the LX6 there was no comparison. My wife didn't even want to take the Territory for a test drive. For me the LX6 is all class and a smooth ride - except for that black plastic body kit :-(

(we are getting out of a Pajero Exceed - so that opinion is not a Holden vs Ford thing)

Hi There.
I,ve just got a CX6 3 weeks ago.Impulse blue.I am also considering painting my plastic. I went the Adventra for the luggage space and comfort. Comming back from a toyota 60 series 4x4.Looked at the territory and my wife said the same as yours Adventraman. And the rest is history.
As far as painting the plastic, just head off for a quote at your local paint shop, get a price for them to r&r and paint and you might be able to work out a deal I,m a old painter so I,m going to give it a go myself.

There seems to be a pattern here as my wife also did not like the Territory and loved the Adventra. We went for the LX6 as the standard features were better. Eg ESP, EBD, Corner Control Etc.

There is another thread in this forum called "I painted my engine covers" that shows some home done paint jobs on the black plastic engine covers - looks pretty good in the photos, but I'm not sure if its good enough quality for body work.

I suspect you need a 2pak job to make it look professional.

I Am with you adventraman the painted engine covers look great but i am not sure how the painted bodykit would look as the plastic is quite rough.

How long have you had the LX6?

I don't have it yet. This black plastic is troubling me. I need to find a practical way to colout code to white or silver, or I'll have to go with the black car (which does look really cool) but I'm not a fanatical car washer - white or silver would be more practical for me. I hope to have an LX6 in the next two weeks.

Have you guys tried using armourall or similar product to make the black plastic at least look black and shiny?

I was looking at an LX6 at a dealers yesterday and even though it was new the black plastic was already looking pretty ordinary!

I have only ever washed the car but the detailer’s uses some sort of silicon based product and the black comes up a treat and looks ok with the white car. I would still prefer to have them the same colour as the car.

dad wanted to go for the black because of the bumpers.

I use a F1 Williams product from super cheap. Its supposed to be a car showroom finish thing but Ive found it works a treat on the plastic and doesnt affect the paint if its accidently rubbed into or onto the paint (because its designed for paint)

I'd still prefer to have them the same colour too!

also the chunk taken out of the plastic - will cost $120 to fix. The bloke told me RRP would be $200 + but he'll do it for me for the cost of the filler and a couple of bucks for the labour involved, which is apparently a few hours because it involves rubbing back, filling in, rubbing back . Should be done this week or next
