Default VZ SV6 Spoiler removal (positives and negitives)

Hey guys. I am in the process of buying a sv6 vz and it has been untouched. It is as stock as it was when it came off the line. Obviously that means I am going to give her a good make over and make her look good. Now my main question here is what to do with the spoiler.

I seem to think it looks good with or without so I am not really phased if it goes or not. But they do look good without. I was wondering what would happen when i got rid of it? I have read around and it seems to not do much.... so yeah. I understand it does sweet F*** all at low speeds but what about high end speeds and going fast around corners? Just some input would be great. CHeers

It's only there for asthetics, does nothing at all. Depends how you like your car to look

yep, does nothing at all. thats why late model sports cars have the spoilers coming up at the speeds there usefull for. a speed that is illegal on the streets :P

your car actually goes faster, you are just removing excess weight.

Only negative I can see is the holes left behind that need to be filled and painted or just covered.
IMHO the cars lines look so much cleaner without the rear spoiler and if you still wanted a spoiler then just fit the tiny HBD calais spoiler.
The only reason mine still has a rear spoiler is that I don't have any storage room for the HSV bootlid otherwise I would replace it with a plain one.

The only other issue is your third brake light. Im still not 100% sure on if it is needed or not but i have heard of people getting defected for it.

    general rule is:

if you have the spoiler and the globe is blown, that is a defect as it is not performing its function.

if you have no spoiler, then the cops dont notice.

Dont presume all cops are stupid, a lot will notice a missing 3rd brake light and give you a defect for it. I removed my spoiler and fitted an LED brakelight in the base of the rear windscreen and wired it into the factory socket sitting in the boot.

just don't drive around like an idiot?
Ive seen people use plugs on the holes I am sure thats cheaper then get the body work done...or just buy a boot without the spoiler already

Buy rubber grommets from supercheap if you like the bogan look.

Should cost a few hundred to get the holes filled.

Probably better off getting another boot if you can get the same colour

Wont work as the glass is blacked out where the factory eyelevel sits on cars with factory spoilers so you wont see it. As I said before simply get the LED strip that sticks to the glass and wire it into the existing wiring.
