    Default VZ Executive Auto Fuel Consuption 13-15L/100km

    Hi all.

    Got a VZ Executive auto which has "POWER" mode off and is being driven like any normal car, to give you an idea it shifts up at around 2000-3000rpm, no higher than that.

    However, my fuel consumption is NEVER below 13L/100km, I find this extremely hard to believe, so I reset the ECU (disconnected battery) and still get roughly the same. I've also had a service in the last 500km.

    Any ideas why? My folks VE SS Manual gets around 14L/100km and gets driven pretty hard.

    I get better economy out of my vz 6 spd SS 6 Litre than I did in my vy v6 and my VR v6.

    Could be ur oxy sensors.
    What petrol do u use?

    I just did my oxy sensors and it dropped from 18l/100km to 15l/100km @ an avg speed of 35km/h.

    I just changed the front two sensors before the cats.
    Do u know what the rears are good for? Do u reckon I should change the rears aswell?

    It pretty much does the same thing as the fronts but it measeures your exhaust gasses after the cat converter to see how much is getting trapped by the cat. And measures the fuel mixture to ensure no harmful gasses go out the exhaust... I'm prettY sure

    So do you reckon it will have anything to do with the performance of the car? The rear oxy sensors that is.
    I feel like my car is really sluggish but I dont know if it's just me. Lol
    But then again it's a 2ton + car.

    Not mine. Lol

    20" Rims+Tyres x 4 = 125kg
    70L LPG gas tank full = 100kg*
    75L petrol tank full = 90kg*
    2 x subs n amp = near 40-50kg*
    Me x1 500kg. Lol 80kg.
    * = rough figures.

    Total = Turtle.

    the after cat o2 sensors are only there to monitor the cat efficiency. i believe the front ones are what make a real difference to fuel con and performance. My vz ute averages between 12.5 -13.

    @caprilicious honestly they shouldn't be used for performance or fuel consumption at all im pretty sure they are only used to see how much stuff is going through the cats for EURO 4 emissions laws

    My advice would be to take them out and check to see if the tips are dirty.. If they look ok then leave it

    As I said I'm pretty sure they are only there to comply with EURO 4 emissions laws.

    Ps I'm only a 3rd year apprentice mechanic so I may be wrong

    If your gear changes are between 2000-3000rpm you deserve to be using that much fuel. I do a lot of city driving with gear changes between 1500-2000rpm and I'm averaging 12.5km/100 consistantly. My gear changes only go over 2000rpm if I'm in a hurry and if I do that consistantly, my fuel usage climbs noticably.
