Might be a noob question, but I'm buying a diff, 3.46 and am gonna install it myself, it's gonna be easy to put in there, but will the car be drivable still until I find time for Holden to recalibrate it with a tech2? Like shift points will still be the same etc? 5sp auto as well
I have a 3.46 in my exec auto. Still haven't got the speedo calibrated.
No drama's apart from the speedo reading 100 when I'm doing 90. But yours will be a bigger leap in terms of the ratio change. So I can't say how much the shift points will be affected.
Manual also recommends replacing yolk bolts x3, diff carrier bolts x4, diff mount bolts x4 and carrier to mount bolts x2.
Sorry if this is abit off topic but just wondering how much u guys paid for it?
And which is better stage 2 shift kit or this?
Cheers.

No shift kit in mine as yet. But in the plan.
No shift kits for 5L40.

the dramas you will have is setting the backlash on your diff, best get the pros to put your gears in so you dont end up screwing your new crown wheel and pinion
Going where no late model stato/caprice has gone before.... GAME ON!!
its a complete diff im buying, so its just remove old 2.8 and put in the whole diff assebly
oh ok well thats easy as then, yes your car will be fine to drive around in but it will affect your kms aswell

ah sweet thats cool, i will be getting holden to recalibrate it for me, just wanted to make sure that after i bolt it all up, there will be no dramas
thanks for your help guys, appreciate it
