i need to replace the left rear control arm on my vz exec (existing one is dodgy, inner arm is slightly bent left from previous owner accident and is pulling the bush left causing the bush shell to rub the chassis where it pivots and make a constant sqeek noise) and was wondering if anyone has done this before and could tell me the procedure to do this. any help is much appreciated, thanks
Basically you have to at least lower (if not remove) the entire rear subframe to access the bolts to remove the control arm. Which is a major PITA if you don't have the facilities, time or tools.
Having done camber bushes I would not do it again.
Good luck.
the irony. i have just replaced the control arm and swing arm on my rear right hand side of the vz. took me about 4 hours to do it with one other guy, limited equiptment (we basically jacked the rear end off the ground and went from there) and yes its more of a C yoU Next Tuesday job (theres like 5000 effing nuts and bolts haha). but providing there is no structural damage the replacement part should just slot in, bolt up and be ready to roll. but you must have the patience because it will fight you to the end. enjoy![]()
and yes you basically have to removed the sub frame to access the bolts.. there is limited space between you spanner and the bolt head though so it is an intricate and frustrating proccess without all the tools
