For starters, never leave your keys in the ignition unless you are in the car!

But otherwise, potentially there is an issue with your BCM. Others with more experience on BCM issues might be able to shed some more light than I can however I suggest checking the charge level of your battery first as poor quality/poor charge batteries can wreak all sorts of havoc in these cars.

ya gotta get into your options menu and change one of the locking options I forget the name. to get into the options menu when you start the car you press either up or down or mode while the computer performs it's system check. you will see it come up on the display on the dash.

Sorry mate, you are thinking of the wrong thing there. The OP is saying that their car is locking when the door closes, the only two options you get in the settings are for it to lock in 'Drive' and then unlock on 'Park' or not lock at all unless you press the button.

    Thats correct.
My wifes key has the door lock function set and mine doesn't so someimes when I use her key I have almost been caught by the locking doors.
On mine the different keys also have different seat and mirror settings when opening the car.
So go into you options menu and change the door lock function with the key you use in the ignition.

Both of you have the right ideas, but it is not what the OP is/was experiencing. Their doors are locking when closed regardless of whether the key is in the ignition or just sitting on the seat, and since these aren't exactly BMWs that we drive they can't sense that the keys are in the car and not in our pockets (meaning that the doors aren't just locking because the car thinks that you are inside it!).

its caused by a faulty drivers door actuator our vz adventra does it more after its been raining the door handle gets a little stiff to open as well because the actuator is not fully open replace the actuator or see if there is any part of the lock and handle has come loose
but my money is on the actuator

If it is still happening why don't you go and get a plain key cut (without the elctronics) and hide it under the car somewhere.
I did this on my old wagon because you could lock the car with tail gate still open and closed the keys in the car a couple of times so having a key outside definitely helped.
Yes the alarm will sound until you use the electronic button on the proper key.
