    Default vz write off value

    So the 2005 vz executive ex police car has been written off. Everything stayed the same since the purchase of the ex cop car. What will I looking at getting from the insurance since I don't have enough money to buy new car and I'm hoping to buy the exact same model and year car?
    Thanks.

    Depends on the agree'd value. My Crewman has a write off value of 30 grand (modified and through Shannons). So have a look at your insurance papers. Very rough and probably far off estimate is 15-17grand.

    NOTE: They wont care about the ex cop car side of it.

    Are you at fault for this accident? Are you doing this through your insurance or someone elses? If it's yours then your insurance papers will tell you how much it was insured for (like azazeldeath said) and your excess will come off the top of the payout - plus any premium you may owe if your paying by the month for instance. If it's someone elses insurance because your not at fault but didn't have comprehensive then your at their mercy, they will definately screw you over.

    Nope, our fault and the insurance for the car is about 14.5k but after calling them today they told us it will be paid out at market value which is BS.

    Thats why you go over your papers when you get insurance! You can go for agreed value or market value (market obviously being cheaper). All i can say is learn your lesson and check next time.

    when you say the insurance for the car is 14.5k do you mean you had an agreed value and they are renegging on that?

    Good luck. Market value payout for a VZ Exec won't get much more than another Exec if you are still thinking of Commodores, though it would get a higher spec earlier model.

    unless their being generous then the market value for a 2005 VZ Exec is around the $7 500 mark, give or take

    They've gone down in value, last time I checked it was at $10 000 but that was a few months ago

    also ex cop car means nothing, in some cases (like selling a car) it can make the value decrease

    best of luck to you, of course, but I doubt that you'll get more the RedBook,
    which, as of right now, is -

    * Private Price Guide $7,200 - $8,700
    * Trade In Price Guide $4,900 - $6,400
    based on - * Average Km 90,000 - 150,000

    *RedBook has these asterisks, but I can't see any explanation as to what they mean ...

    when my VX got written off, they allowed a little extra for the towbar, and the fact that it had low km.

    I'll be interested to hear how you get on.

    me to shortly, my $7500 is based off a guide that some insurers use, and based on a car thats done 120 000 kays. Your able to tick other options like towbar etc and it bumps the price up a tad but not much.
