    Default Noisy diff

    HI
    First time post so I hope someone can help, at around 50 to 60kph the diff whines like a 747 landing ,funny thing is less than 12 months ago the diff was rebuilt for the previous owner under extended warranty.Would I being the new owner of the car be coverd under the warranty I presume the diff would be still under...

    You would have to check the warranty wording to see if it's transferrable. Or contact the business which carried out the work.

    Do you spin wheels much? Orbital gears could be stuffed.

    In that case, remove the diff center, check all the teeth for surface damage. Check the crown, pinion, especialy the orbital gears. If you dont want to do that, a quick check would be to dump the oil and check for metal in it, use a magnet and torch.
