Default Vz s running poor shaking whole car!

    2005 Vz S Ute 54,000kms

Hi guys. Driving along the other day car running smoothe and powerfull! Gave it a bootfull (auto) to change lanes. Apon slowing down for the lights the whole car was shaking as if i had an old school 500 cude v8 under the hood! In neutral when pumping accelerator it bogs and splutters befor building revs!

Whole enging is shaking causing whole car to shake!
I have removed manifold and changed spark plugs (& manifold gasket) what a prik of a job! Still presenting the same problem!
Could it be the coil packs and how do i test for the dodgey one???

Or could it be something else im not seeing?

    Thanks guys
    Brad

    No leads. And no pushrods.

Probably dodgy coil. Only way to test is with a COP tester. You could try moving and replacing existing coils to try and isolate the dodgy coil. Or buy a new one and eliminate one by one.

Do you just remove a coil plug one at a time and see if it gets worse or stays the same?
If it is a coil under the manifold will the fresh gasket f@$# up or will it be ok with little run time?

The biggest question is it dangerous or detrimental to remove plugs whilst running or do i turn off unplug then start (then repeat)

    Ta fellas

    lol... alloytecs dont have leads...

unplug all coils and plug them back in... could be a dirty injector

I have ran a fuel system cleaner through it incl injector cleaner in it!!

Will it damage car running whilst unpluging 1 coil at a time????

unplugging the leads when running wont hurt it, but if you get zapped doing it, its gonna hurt......

If your not sure about that, just go to wreckers and pick a cheapy up and use that for testing.

I would think unpluging while running wouldnt be too healthy for a car tho.. :/

Idle for Alloytec is around 650 rpm.

Unplug one coil at a time (loom connector) before you start the engine. You are looking for a change in idle. When you get no change you have probably got the offending coil. This may be difficult as it is already running rough.

650rpm seems low for well most cars!! Why would a dodgey coilpack make it idle at a higher rpm running on 5 cylinders? Ya may have to explain that!!

Whatever your problem is. I would say the ECU is keeping the idle high to prevent your engine from stalling. Make sense? Technology is amazing isn't it?

But don't take my word for it. Do your own research.

    Okaydokie all PROBLEMO SLOVED!!!!!!!

First of all apolagies too heyitsenricopallazzo as i didnt realise the steps on the tachometer and it was idleing at 750rpm (im an idiot didnt look close enough)

Culprit was a dodgey coil pack! Mechanic told me it was perfectly ok to slip off coilpack plugs and see what engine does (check engine light will come on but after plugging back on just turn off car n bak on) only took till 2nd plug to remove and no change!

I removed manifold again (gasket held up) and swapped dodgey one for an easy to access one put back together and did same test to make sure was only coil pack! Removed again and swapped for generic repco coil pack!

So in future if engine is shaking high chance it is only running on 5 cylenders.

Thanks for everyones input happy times

    Regards Brad

    Hi guys,
I have a vz one ton tray back. 146.000 on the clock every now and then on idle it runs a little rough. A mate of mine said change the fuel filter.
Easyer said than done when you dont know where it is. Could any one help me in locating the filter or are we looking in the right spot???
