Hey,

Have owned my ute for over 4 years now and havent had an issue with overheating untill recently. have done just under 90,000k's and recently finding my car overheating first thing when start for the day. Checked all the basics (radiator fluid, engine oil, fans start correctly) everything is fine. dropped it off to a machanic who couldnt fault it. didnt over heat for a week following this but has started again and the engine temp warning came on now and just trying to work out if it would be the thermostat or water pump (maybe the impellar). does it take much to check/pull out the thermostat to confirm if it is kicking in or maybe getting stuck.

has anyone else had similar issues?

The coolant hasnt been flushed since i have had it, would this change anything.

Change thermostat, an go from there.
It's the cheapest thing to do yourself.

^^^ that one. Had a sticky thermostat on my last SSV. Swapped it and everything was roses. Sold the car shortly there after for the E3 just in case :p

Almost definitely a thermostat. A mate told me that the thermostat is in a stupid place where you have to remove the gearbox to access. Is that right? Sounds odd even for Holden.

Issue has now been resolved, it was due to a faulty temperature sensor. I couldnt have been sure it was a thermostat also but FYI.
