hey guys looking at getting a Vz Sv6 and wanting to get the model with the 190kw upgrade.
how can you tell if its a 175kw or a 190kw ? from looking on car sales do the 190kw have a side badge ?
cheers
All sv6's are 190kw
Mine a 2004 sv6 has got the alloytec190 badges below the side indicators. I think later on they stopped this maybe for cost cutting? lol. But as vz_sv6_owner said. All sv6's are the 190kw model plus most calais' too i believe.
I may be wrong but I've heard that because the 190 has a VVTi exhaust cam its very particular with its exhaust back pressure. So if you want to change your exhaust, you may have to make a couple of attempts.

Not if you get it right, i just remember someone saying they put on an unrestricted exhaust on a 190 and he had really bad fuel consumption until he got some back pressure again. But Ive only heard this once, so don't take my word on it.

Just dont go a stupidly large exhaust on it. I can't comment too much as i havent done exhaust on mine. But a twin 2.5 into single 3" i think works quite well from what i've read on here. Do a quick search of the forums and go into the my ride vy-vz section and ask some of those guys. Most of the sv6's in the my ride section have exhausts.
Twin 2.5" is too big, Twin 2.25" is the max. And if you can find a twin cheaply, great, otherwise there is no need.

Cool. Always happy to be corrected. Question. As there are two cats either side of the car how would a single work? Like a merge pipe or something?
how many kms do they get out of a tank.. their 11.5km/100 right ?
Get a Statesman or Caprice if you can stretch the budget a little. I'm getting 11.04 combined city/highway in a V6 Caprice (that's over 10,000km) . The transmission gives better economy than the standard 4 speed. Extra features, better power, good comfort etc.
Should be able to get a WK (VY) around that mark. Comes down to condition and kms travelled.
whats the difference in transmission?
The sv6 has the exact same engine and gearbox (5speed auto) as the stato or caprice. Consumption all comes down to your right foot. If anything a stato/caprice would be 1-200kg heavier than the sv6 and therefore be slower and probably worse on fuel.
On the other hand though. The features (interior wise) are much better and if I could go back in time I would have gotten the Calais.

Easy way to tell a 175 from the 190. The intake manifold is black on the 190. On the 175 its a 'silver'
ive got a 190kw motor and have a silver manifold
The early 190's had the black intake manifold. I think around early-mid 05 they changed. For what reason I'm not sure.
i have a twin 2.5, it doesnt seem to have lost power AFAIK, and it sounds pretty good IMO

how do the 190 motors rate... and how good are the sv6 on fuel ??
I've just bought an '06 Calais with the 5spd semi-auto flappy paddles.
IMHO this is the pick of the crop in the VZ range.
Economy?...... Just done a 2030ks roadtrip to get it home, used 160ltrs. Or so my trip computer tells me.
