Hey guys, so yea, turning 18 in about 2 months (November 5th) and looking into getting a Holden VZ Sv6.
Just wanna know what peoples opinions are on them?
Are their any things that I should know about that are of importance?
I want either a Turismo Blue or Silver Sv6, want to take the spoiler off (or get a calais boot), lowered, fat tyres and 19 or 20" rims, Rockford Fosgate or Soundstream soundsystem, full exhaust system, and a few other things
And are their any problems with a VZ Sv6 manual? I hate automatics! So boring to drive haha.

Exhaust doesn't count as an engine modification, so I can get an exhaust system.
Im on my p's and ive got a manual vz sv6 ute and love it. The only problem ive got is the clutch cant handle the 275/30r20s i run on the rear, just slips a bit on hard take offs. But i wanna get a heavy duty clutch cause its on its way out. Haha and i wish mine was turismo blue.

The less finance the better - pay cash or have the finance arranged before getting the car.
It also seems you're quite specific with the colour and transmission choice - be a little flexible. Look at all the options available and don't be afraid to walk away if the car is not the right one - but dont pass a genuine bargain either.
Good luck with the search - take your time and enjoy the car when you get it.

"Definition of probationary prohibited vehicle (from 1 July 2007)
A vehicle that:
•has an engine with eight cylinders or more, or
•has an engine that is turbocharged or supercharged (except those listed in the probationary vehicle database). There are also some lower powered turbocharged or supercharged vehicles which have been exempted and can be operated by a probationary driver who has been given an exemption by VicRoads. Refer to lower performance turbocharged or supercharged vehicles and the probationary vehicle database for more information.
•has an engine that has been modified to increase the vehicle's performance (other than a modification made by the manufacturer in the course of the manufacture of the vehicle, or
•a nominated high performance six cylinder engine (refer to the probationary vehicle database).
Now, because you found reading english a complex and difficult task im going to explain it to you.
An aftermarket exhaust helps to flow exhaust gas out and away from the engine faster. Therefore increasing the engine's performance.
I included a website so you can possibly get an adult with suitable reading experience to talk with you about it.

How about next time you actually explain stuff without being a total dick about it, upon reading Victorian laws it does look like the exhaust will be an illegal mod. That said if you are smart you can make an aftermarket system LOOK like a stock one.
Ok - what you need to buy is a GenIII *anything* and then get back to us with a thread on how to get around the "P" plate laws
Reaper
No. Anything that modifies the power output will be illegal. Also, id like to see you argue with a cop saying an exhaust mod is not an engine mod.
Perhaps if the OP didnt reply to Sabbath sounding like he knew everything...yet being completely incorrect, being a total dick would not have been required.
Not 16, but yes. The whole world DOES revolve around my ego
Did you bother reading my first comment? When you try answering the persons question and get such an arrogant response:
I dont see why i should try and help anymore. Actually, scratch that. I did help, i showed him what he needed to know. Not what he THOUGHT he needed to know.
And sound like one?

See you're wrong, my brother has a VE Sv6, the cops pulled him over (it's attractive to cops, you see) and they've never mentioned anything about the exhaust system. They check the engine bay, not the exhaust system.
It's extremely loud, but the cops didn't mind that either.
So, Sabbath, try elaborate on this. We've been pulled over by MANY cops, and nothing has ever happened.
And thanks to others for actually being helpful and not being stuck-up idiots like Sabbath, and insurance doesn't bother me. I want to make my car perfect, having a mad first car has been apart of our family; my dad had a VB SL/E, my bro with his VE Sv6, and myself with a VZ Sv6![]()
LOLWUT......Vicroads is wrong about the roadlaws? TIME TO CRACK OUT THE METHANOL BOYS! THEY"RE WRONG ABOUT THAT TOO!
Congratulations? I have a horn that goes Beep Beep
You sure the male ones dont just think he's cute?
Just becuase you havent been done...doesnt mean it isnt illegal.
Didnt get the link the first time?
Since when was an Sv6 a "Mad Car"?????

Just because he didn't pin him doesn't mean it's not illegal. You asked whats legal not what you can get away with.
If you think an exhaust doesn't add into the 'engine mods' area then you're an idiot. Why would people change them to breathe better and GET MORE POWAAA??
That being said, I reckon you should go a 3.5" twin, with no resi on the back, that way you get a little note, and get a massive gain to power without the cops knowing!
Has to be 3.5" though, anything smaller and you'll gain too much backpressure and blow the motor up.
It's funny coz you act like a smart ass, yet you only have a shiet VH. My first car will be better then yours LOLLLL.
And he has been pulled up by MANY cops, not one you fool.
And for P's, a VZ Sv6 is perfect. If I could have a V8, I'd get something much better then a piece of fuarking crap VH buddy.
Thanks for your help mate!![]()
...self proclaiming hooning aside. Just because a copper pulls you over and doesnt dick you for it. Doesnt mean its not illegal.
Any modification that increases performance from factory is illegal, end of story.
Ive been pulled over and Ive got an OTR, no MAF. Didnt get defected, but they arent exactly smiled upon.
Just because you can get away with an exhaust, doesnt make it legal.
What is it with P Platers and not being able to read the black and white laws.
Closed...because im sick to death of explaining this crap to people who dont want to listen.
