Default Where can i buy a new alloytec engine

    Hey all

I've been searching around the net trying to find a new 190kW alloytec for my sv6 and cant seem to find anything.

Would anyone know where i can get one besides Holden?

    Cheers

Barry Bourke in Berwick sells the LY7 (3.6 Alloytec) for $4500. Try him for the 190kw version.

Ebay perhaps. Failing that Holden itself. Or just drop a V8 in there, chances are you will get one cheaper then the Alloytec anyway. From what I have heard the LS1 bolts right in, just need the BCM.

Well i called holden yesterday and they said $4350 fo a new alloytec. That might be my best option.

Surely it requires more than just the BCM to convert to a V8! If that were the case then i would do it. But im thinkin it might be a bit more involved than that.

low compression in cylinder 6. Caused by 2 cracked valves and stretched timing chain and guides. the head needs to be skimmed also and the water pump needs to be replaced as well as all the valves cos their all warn out. I was told this was a result of not servicing frequently enough, this is the second water pump its been through also. Either way its 6 grand to fix. I figure why repair an engine that has this much damage with 150,000km on the clock when it could be cheaper to buy a new one.
