Hey guys, just wondering if someone can help me on this one.
Just put in new brake pads and now they've been squeaky as hell when theyre warm.
I've had them in for almost a month.
Just wondering if I have to change the discs as well now?
The discs are fine, not warped in anyway.
Will appreciate feedback.
what brand/model of pads are they?
Some will squeal as they warm up, its to do with the pad friction material and not much you can do about it.
You can always try to "wash out" between the pad and disc by shoving a hose through the wheels and giving it a squirt, that will wash away any loose brake dust and might quieten it down for a day or so ... depends on the pad!
^ As above. It's likely to be a cheap pad material. Or glazed rotors.

One fix is to fit shims to the back of the pads or to get some brake glue to actually stick the pads to the pistons to stop them vibrating. Id suggest getting the rotors skimmed first..
Silver Certified.
Thanks guys. I'll give that a try.
The brake pads are rda? Or something, orange n smelt horrible.
If anything would it be a wise move in getting new rotors?
I'm thinking slotted...?
ive got rda pads and no squeel. some things to try are as follows.
1. make sure the slides on the calipers are greased up with never seize
2. use some brake squeal (glue type stuff in a red bottle), you apply it to the back of the pad and like said above, will stick the pads to the calipers.
if those dont work, bed them in real good, on a nice straight that has no traffic, accelerate to 80km/h, brake firmly to 20-40km/h, accelerate back to 80km/h, and repeat that 10 times. rda specify to do the above procedure to bed in their pads properly. the reason being is because the pad material will come onto the rotor, and as you have not machined them, it may burn off the old pad material and replace it with the new pad material.
hope it works
First question should be asked: were they bed in properly?
above post should help
Though it doesn't hurt to bed them in, alot of newer pads say you don't need to do the whole bedding in process. Just look at their websites or listen to the bendix ads on the radio
Well I fitted Bendix general CT's all round to the VY with the old rotors untouched. Says no bedding in required, but I did so anyway. On the rears I didn't use any brake grease behind the pads, but on the front ones I did. No squeel, all good and stops on a dime. Unreal pads for street use. $70 a pair, so $140 all up, what did you pay for yours? Cheap shit is more likely to squeel than middle/higher quality ones.
The ones that the big name auto parts stores have for $40 odd a pair are NOT worth installing unless you are selling the car.
'Ah well, I suppose it had to come to this.'
Ill +1 the bendix CT pads, from previous experience. I never use the grease etc that sometimes comes with the pads, generally causes more harm than good. But the bendix pads were great, minimal brake dust, no noise etc etc.
I currently have QFM pads in mine, and aren't really liking them. Firstly, the pad surface area was alot smaller than genuine, and after bedding them in, have started to squeal occasionally. However this could be due to my discs being in pretty bad nick, so dont take my word as gospel. Aswell as the fact that they were about half the price of the bendix pads.. So.. Go figure.
