Hi everyone I have an 05 vz Calais alloytec v6. I'm getting a dual 2.5 inch exhaust, just cat back to start with,I just wanted to know what the best and highest quality exhaust brand would be? Thanks.
I would suggest using the Google search (top right of the forum), as you could imagine this has been covered many many times before.
Just using the Google search it bounced back with way more than 10 pages of results, here you will find a few which may or may not be relevant but worth while looking at:
vz sv6 exhaust
VZ v6 exhaust system recommendations
Vz Sv6 Exhaust!
Suggestions for a good VZ exhaust system
VZ exhaust choice
All of the above is just from the first 2 pages of search results.
You will find many differing opinion, what someone thinks it fantastic sounds rubbish to another
Other things to consider budget, is it auto / manual, what is your definition of best? sound, what future plans you have will also alter the sound.
Cheers
Twin 2 1/2" on the allytec drones like a bastard.
I do a twin 2 1/4" into single 3" Manta system for $495 shipped.
Yeah... I was going to say... dual 2.5" on an alloytec is a bit overkill. I mean, I'm getting a dual 2.5" or a cammed LS2 so not sure why you would put a system that big on a v6.
But +1 on the Manta being a brand to go with.
Sounds Alrite.. Would that be pretty loud?
No, not loud. Deeper than stock, nice note, but not loud and no drone. The problem with loud exhausts is that they drone or sound like crap on the alloytec. But if you like loud, then drone probably isn't an issue.
mate dont do twin 2.5,
every one will look at you like a dick head, had one put on and took it of 20 minuts later.
How about dual 2.25 all the way and not merging it into a 3" how would that go?
Keeping in mind eventually I'll have extractors and high flow cats.
I wouldn't even bother getting an exhaust on a V6 Calais.
It's a V6 that's why. It sounds shit and performance gain would be a little over 5kw if your lucky. It's a Calais leave it luxury. But hey that's just my opinion.
Everyone's entitled to there own opinion.
Hi what would you recommend for a Auto VZ SS 6.0L Catback system, specs and price?
I want it to sound like a proper V8 should or a close as practically possible with these engines(like a old carby 308 with 2 1/4"duals, also i can fit it at home myself if picking it up is a option.)
It`s stock except for MCAI with 2 hole mod and K&N filter, will be getting a tune at a later stage.
Thanks in advance Phill
I would recommend a twin 2 1/2" Manta system with hotdogs on the front and a rear resonator. That would made it louder and more definitive. Ectracotes and high flow cats will make it even more V8 sounding as well as giving it a decent improvement as well.
$690 for the system, or $1990 for 1 7/8" primary 4-1's, hi flow cats and the system shipped. It is all bolt on, no cutting or welding required. It will need O2 sensor extensions as well. I can do these for $120 a pair.
Thanks for that,it does sound reasonably priced. I was wondering what extractors would you use? And also cats? VZ 6.0`s run 3 cats in total. 2 on the left bank and only 1 on the right(drivers). You would still need to run 3 or just replace them and use the 2 high flows you mentioned?
