After just finishing paying off my ute, now i'm considering which modification will come first (and while chances are high being the brakes as the disks need machining anyway... i'm testing the waters).
I know there are threads on this, but it's moreso a gauge combination i guess. I have a VZ S Ute, without climate control so assumingly i need a VY pod. As it doesn't have climate control i'm looking for other gauge options which i don't have to have the (missing) harness for.
I'm chasing something like this Aeroforce Technology Inc | Products - Interceptor (there's a group buy somewhere on the forum at the moment i think) but they are well ...expensive. I understand these gauges won't be cheap (but i don't need something as extravagant, only the option for oil/water/battery).
I have limited knowledge on this - is it correct to assume an 05 VZ will have the OBD2 connector? And does anyone know of any relativly inexpensive options for two gauges that will fit into a VY pod? (i think they're 52mm gauges).
thanks
VY series I grey
VY series II black - fits vz 52mm non climate
VZ monaro Black 42mm Climate control only
SS reductions sell gauge pods also
group buy will be ending soon
dont machine your discs, look at it this way new disc here in sa $40.00 autobarn each... if you machine a disc then your reducing the thickness, it will warp again quicker, back twenty years ago yes, not now there cheap,,just use bendix pads and youll be fine, i just got two front disc and bendix ct pads for $135.00
Yes, your VZ has an OBD2. Its inline, below your steering wheel, just below base of the cover that hides the wires / fuses etc)
Nothing wrong with machining your discs as long as they do not go below the minimum thickness. If they have never been touched then it will be fine to get machined. As for rotors being $40, I would be interested to see what brand / make they are as cheap is not always best, especially when wanting to stop

Thanks for all of the info RE OBD2 and brakes. I'll look into the brakes in a little more detail when i'm ready, but you've given me a good starting point.
I spent a while looking myself, and couldn't find other 52mm OBD2 gauges - i doubt any others are around (at that sort of price). Most of them seem to be a 'screen'.
The Aeroforce gauges are brilliant. they show quite a lot of data and for $400 for a pair they are great value. Considering the HSV gauges (only display oil and volts) with pod is usually well over ~$600. Who really cares what volts you are putting out, not something you would be keeping an eye on unlike oil pressure, coolant temp etc.
On mine I have Speed (VY doesnt have digital speedo on dash), Oil Pressure, Coolant Temp and AFR. They are also used as a shift light AND warning light for when things arnt as they should be (programmable)

Thanks for the info sixes - good to hear they're value for money. I think i'll just save up that extra two weeks and buy a pair.
Did you wire them up yourself? I'm probably going to but just wanting to know if it's a lot of effort (running the OBD2 wire etc.). And what do they look like at night, alright? A picture would be awesome if you've got one mate.
the hardest thing is getting the wires up from the OBD2 plug to the gauges. It isnt that hard to do, just fiddly. PM me when you get the and I can let ya know how to do it if you like.
Cheers
