mechanics love kids who put these shift kits into their cars thinking ur geting the 1/4mile faster, its just tighter gearing up thats all, if anything it reduces speed

I have no idea what you are trying to say, but what??

A shift kit, your basic one, provides you with some different valves and some mods to the valve body to increase the fluid pressure, which in turn makes the bands grip harder/faster on the drums, thereby reducing the time to engage the next gear and also reducing the heat caused by the slipping of the bands.

or get them next time too adjust your line pressure, accumalator i think its called, as stated above less wear on trans,,,,but im confushed if your car is revving out then its already in third, you can move the lever too third before you over take, hence bringing the car up on the revs, plant your foot and over take,, or it could be slipping clutches/bands, but find a great transmission guy too look at it,,, a common thing i see out on the open country roads people are scared to put their foot down when overtaking trucks, most modern cars like to revved a bit,

loopie, what i'm saying is i would like 3rd to engage in a quicker and more positive way when ineed to plant the peddle, the trans does not slip, just slow to hook up

i was under the belief [perhaps mistaken] that this could damage the trans.

the biggest killer in any 4/5 speed auto is too leave in there,, around town third is great, adjusting line pressure is thru all gears,,,, the biggest downfull is youve gotta get use to it when your stationary and you put it into any gear it engages quickly/thumps,, but that means less wear on your clutch pack, dont be afraid to let the car drive around a bit in second with rev reson too make the motor work a bit,,,

Nope, it perfectly fine. No damage will ensue as long as your sensible about it, like no selecting 1st at 60km/h continuously, and stuff like that.

the trans in my vz is the police style where you don't have to deress button, i've never used this function cos have been unsure of it's exact reason and afear of damaging the trans.
