    Default VZ SS Brakes

I tried to search this but can't find the search area lol
Anyway ive got a 2006 VZ SS 6Ltr Sedan and when the rotors wear out i want to put some DBA slotted and drilled rotors on but all the ones i have found are solid rear rotors and says it will fit SS, while mine are ventalated ones, and the ebay listings says will not fit SSZ,VZ Ute or HSV,So the question is why are my back ones Vent. and not solids for???

Because vented is better. The front rotors are also bigger than the standard SS. Talk to Greg at GSL Rallysport in the sponsors section, he will help you out more than eBay.

I'm not sure of the reason behind it, Greg possibly could tell you more. But our MY06 brakes were left overs from the SSZ, so they are different to standard SS. Fronts are bigger and thicker and I believe the calipers are different too. I think the only difference in the rear is that they are vented, not sure of size.

    Not neccessarily...

With regards to the rear brakes, probably the biggest mistake people make is neglecting the rear because they beleive it does less work. Yes it's true that the rear 'axle' as a component does less of the overal vehicle braking, but it's also got substantially smaller hardware in which to do it with, so the actual 'brakes' themselves can often work nearly as hard as the front ones do. What can happen if you neglect the rear is that front starts to fade out slowly without you noticing, and it puts more pressure on the fronts, which causes them to fade, and people blame the front for a problem caused by the rear. You can get away with a lesser pad all round when the same pad is used. The two major exceptions are a VERY light front wheel drive, or something rear end heavy like a Porsche, neither of these apply in your case.

I've just put up all of our SSZ pricing in a post over here:
RDA Standard & High Performance Disc Rotors

Any questions at all just let us know!

It`s only splitting hairs but my understanding is the 06 SS`s are running the left over VZ Monaro brake hardware. As once the Monaro was canned holden then had to move it`s stock pile of parts, hence SSZ`s,Thunders etc Running the original red Monaro calipers and other left over bit`s and pieces, the brakes fitted to the 06 SS`s would have been the final batch which holden simpy left unpainted to reduce costs associated with canceling the Monaro (06 SS`s also run Monaro rims),and also it`s a bit of tinsel to help move VZ`s before the VE arrived.
