radiator fans

has anyone had problem when turning off engine radiator fans wont stop running can only stop them by unplugging the fan or by taking the 2 fuses out

Checked the relay? May be stuck on.

weird had taken the 2 fuses out just put them back in the fans didnt come on started the car and turned the aircon on both fans come on as normall then turned the aircon off waited for engine to get to running temp the fans come back on then off again like normall got me buggered could it be a faulty relay?

Could be, next time it happens try a different relay and see if they turn off, then youll know.

there is 2 relays replace both

When the fans are running and the cars turned off pull one at a time and see which ones faulting.

thanks for help ricey went to mechanic this morning he put a computer test on the car found nothing wrong relays seem fine he said it may have just had a hissy fit lol just have to wait and see if it mhappens again thanks again for suggestions

Hi Dave,

Just a quick thaught mate, but if this is only a new car and you've only purchased it recently. If the engine is still hot it is common for some cars to run the fans for a small period of time after the ignition is switched off for some reason. I know my VS used to do it, and my previous AU did also.

yeah i no but ive had this car for about 2 years and the fans have always turned off as soon as the ingnition is off i relize some keep the fans running as i am a radiator repairer but they only run for about 3 mins tops this kept running continuos hasnt done it at all today very wierd
