    Default Cammed VZ Ute Power??

    Hi Guys,

I have recently brought a VZ Ute with a cam (not sure what type), OTR, Xforce extractors and twin 2.5 full exhaust. I got it tuned last week and it made 284RWKW just wondering if anyone has the same mods and what type of power they are getting ?

V6 or v8, 280rwkw is obviously a v8 but I still need to ask the question.

And if someone tells me to just look at his ride on the right, I can't see it because I'm on an app.

Like you said obviously its an 8, just have no idea if that's a good power reading or not..I guess it all depends on what type of cam you have?!

I'm guessing that power it would be around the 23x 23x region. But the dyno it got tuned on will play a massive part. Take it to the track and see what time you can get, that's a better judge.

That kind of power isn't far off what you can make with a stock cam. If you have an aftermarket one then it's not big.

I would dis-agree, the cam you decribe should make closer to 300rwkw

Hey mate have you got the 5.7 or the 6L? depending on cam size with the 6L 284rkw is good, if its a fairly large cam should be around 300 - 310rkw

If its the 5.7 thats a really good number, dont worry too much about the numbers tho man, every dyno is different its all about how it drives/goes on the road, thats where its at

Oh ok, we'll its only a 5.7 wish it was a 6L! It drives good on the road but I am getting the worst fuel economy..22.5L/100km giving it some around town which is like only 250/270kms a tank, surely that's not right???

On the highway in 6 gear I could get it down to 12.5L/100km but that's at under 2grand on cruise control. Is this a tuning issue??

Depends on cam size man, im not doin much better then you im at about 18 - 20L with about 300 - 330kms to a tank and thats taking it fairly easy, who tuned it do ya know?

I'm in the same region in terms of fuel usage taking it very easy. Though with about 300rwkw+ and a 6L.

So in reply to the OP, I think that fuel is pretty average for a cammed LS anything.

Depends who has tuned it. Some shops might be able to tune it to be a bit better on fuel by either making the tune more efficient or toning it down in the HP department. But at the end of the day it's a cammed v8, not a prius, so don't expect miracles. lol.

Oh that's sweet atleast mine is around the same mark..I can live with that it's worth it for the sweet sound everytime I start it up! Does having a cam mean you have to let it warm up longer than usual cause mine doesn't like the cold start very much??

Mine starts perfect on cold but by the time i organise myself its usually ran for a min or 2 which is plenty, soon as i start driving it gets to operating temp nice and quick

I had cold start issues and this was fixed with tune fixes.

However, it's still a little grumpy for the first 5min or so. Basically a bit less forgiving when I'm trying to take of smooth and slow.

When I brought it the ute had Micks Performace stickers on it which is a west Sydney mob, it didn't have the power I was expecting and had a shocking cold start so I took it to Monstar here in Mackay. First run was only 247kw and after I got it back it was at the 283kw mark with a better cold start but still not perfect. Tuner said it still needs fine tuning because he had to make so many changes so I'm hoping when I take it back it will be better again
