vz ss auto noise
Hey I have a vz ss and it has recently started making a loud winding noise coming from the gearbox and started changing gears hard. Mechanic said it was the oil filter being dodgy so wanna know if that's complete bs or if anyone would have any idea what's wrong thanks
Check the oil level and condition(does it smell burnt) in the gearbox first
All the levels are good and i don't think it smells burnt.
Does anyone know a good transmission place near Hastings Victoria?

Hey mate. Try Hastings brake and clutch, he's inbetween Holden and Red Rooster. I had to take my VR there a few years ago.
Yeah I was thinking that. Do you know if he's any good?

Well I had my VR there once to get the auto serviced, and I got the roadworthy on my VY there. No idea apart from that.
I guess going down and asking him what he thinks and an idea on price might be your best bet.
Yeah I think so. I just want someone that actually knows what's wrong. I have had it at Holden and bittern motors and they can't tell me what it is.

Holden in Hastings are hopeless. Took my car once and won't be back.
I'm not sure of any other transmission places around, but there definitely will be.
Places like Chevs and MC Auto would probably be more expensive than a transmission shop aswell.
Well I try the place you said see how that goes. An yeah I won't be going back to Holden anytime soon either. So is there any cruises or anything round Hastings? Only been here for a month

Not that I know of. Fountain Gate is the closest, but its nearly an hour away, so I haven't been yet. But I should one night. There are heaps of guys from Mornington and down to Rye on here, should meet at Arthur's Seat one day.
Yeah I was thinking about going to fg. Should organize one for down here. Alot closer
once you do take it somewhere to get fixed can you post what the problem was. my car also makes a whirring noise and changes gears hard but intermittently. i just had a full service all new levels and filters but it still does it
No worries mate I just hope I can find out what's wrong. The noise is driving me nuts
Sorry guys haven't update this in a while.. Ended up having my gearbox rebuilt. Now the car drives awesome no noises what so ever shifts great. Transmission guy said there was alot of metal shavings in the bottom of the box so not sure what that was..

how much did it cost if you dont mind me asking? lately ive been thinking my gearbox also needs an overhaul so it would be good to get an idea for what im up against
2200.. Which wasn't to bad I thought.. Although it did take a while to get it done. But certainly worth it. Have easily twice as much power and acceleration now.car is running like a dream.

Did they give you a rough estimate in cost depending on the damage inside, then after fixing it gave you a final cost?
Well I was given that 2200 as a quote so I guess it must of been what they thought it was. I would get them to look at it first then maybe give you a quote. Should be more accurate that way.
Mattiboi I had a noise coming from the front of the car I took it to a transmission specialist and they said there were shavings in the bottom of the box they gave it a service new oil and filter. It has stoped making the noise.
They told me an after market filter is a good way to go in the vz auto holden's have you been told this at all?
Just wondering not to keen on paying for a new gear box.
Yeah I had a service had all that done.. And nothing changed. So that's why I ended getting it rebuilt. Tried everything nothing helped. But loving it now all problems are now gone..
