hey guys
my cars getting resprayed at the moment and i asked the panel beater to take off the factory 14 meter aerial that comes with the car.
Just wondering if anyone can recommend me an actual decent antenna that will provide good reception and can be either hidden on the back window or stuck on the outside.. Also is it possible to put a ve antenna on a vz calais with the bee sting... whats involved in the process?
thanks in advance
I have an aerpro ap259 electronic antenna atuck to the inside of my windscreen above the rear view mirror. seems to work well and you do not notice it because it is in the blacked out area. fairly easy to run the cable in the roof and down the pillar, however if you can find an ap170 they look good to
does it pick up good singnal? i tend to use the radio from time to time
thanks
I have not hooked up the power to the amp yet, however in my garage i get about 3/4 signal strength in my garage (I have a pioneer 7250SD which has a meter on it), so it is a little better than the factory aerial.
thanks mate.. appreciate the help
14m aerial haha, it's like that
I just bought the AERIAL ON EBAY. I'll let you know how it goes if you don't purchase one within a week![]()
haha its true but.. thats the only thing holden screwed up with on the vz. Thanks mate im only getting the car back next week or so and ill be waiting to see which one will be better to buy![]()
Dingdong please do provide feedback, I was looking at them but couldnt wait for up to 2 weeks for delivery.
you guys think this will be a dodgy/crappy antenna?

Ok, so got the aerial above I linked you to....
Pretty confusing though, where the aerial plugs into the head unit, there is a black wire. Then at the other end (which goes to the rear window) there is a red wire and clear one with a terminal on? How would it hook up to the heat filament of the rear window? How would it even be powered?
Doesn't help with no instructions!

i realllly have no idea:S can you get some more pics? i got a mate who knows about all this type of stuff
those aerials are for the demister grid on the rear windscreen, black one next to the deck goes to the acc power, silver lead goe to earth and the red would be to the demister wire
so whats better.. ap259 or ap170?
thanks mate
Just got this info confirmed by the seller
Will be hooking it up tomorrow/Sunday and I'll let you know how it goes. You don't HAVE to hook it up to the rear windscreen, so I'll see what it's like without it first.
EDIT* So is the black 12v positive wire, is that needed to be connected to the "Acc" wire (BLUE wire on my Pioneer AVH4200) Which my amp remote wires and current aerial are attached too? Or no?
yep, I have hooked mine up to the amp trigger wire (blue one) it can take .1amp max and it aerial only draws 1/10 of that, I have the ap259, really good around built up areas, go too far into the hills and you loose some reception even with the amp on... however one thing i hate about mine is that it has "Electronic antenna" written in white accross it, I thaught is was just advertising crap until i got it. will be scratching it off in a couple of days
Cheers mate.I'll install it tomorrow and update you all.
Installed it, the 2.7m cable isn't long enough to wire to the boot/rear windscreen, so the little "box" of the aerial is under the back seat....however, reception is pretty poor, so I'm looking at connecting to the rear window heater (+ve)....anyone know where it's located? I can see anything on the window??
