Default whats involved in putting a gen 3 into v6 vz ute??

Hi, i would like to know whats involved in putting a gen 3 into my 6 speed v6 vz ute. i am wanting more power but not sure wether tailshaft, gearbox etc will still be compatible, so wether its easy enough to do or should i just go for a turbo kit from proflow or another company?

i drove a mates 6 speed SS recently and loved the power, the sound and feel of the v8.

It would cost more than just the engine mate. The clutch wouldn't have a chance, the gearbox is right on what the v6 outs out, 320nm. And all the gear ratios should be right for the v6, but it may be very annoying with the v8.

Unless you have a very specific reason for changing engine and not buying an ss, its really not worth it.

no real good reason, i do love my ute though. (car loan from the bank doesnt help either) just wondered how difficult it would be, would it be easy enough to buy an engine, box, clutch, loom, ecu etc and fit it that way, would the lsd diff hold up and would tailshaft match up? if not ill just have to keep the ute and buy an SS one day or go turbo for now. thanks heaps for the help guys, much appreciated.

The engine does weigh a bit more as well. So the suspension might sag a bit. You will need an exhaust to suit, and bigger radiator.
Its just so expensive, it would save you thousands and be so much easier to just buy an ss. And forced induction will have most of the same problems, the v6 drivetrain was made for exactly 320nm, anymore and it turns to cheese.

Im thinking the same thing once i get off my p's, you could always get a wrecked ss with a 6 speed an convert it? just a thought, but i would just buy a v8, alot easier, i will probs just buy a vz ss when i get on my opens an put all my stuff from my ute onto/into it

You'd need an entire SS running assembly minus the diff, so tailshaft, gearbox and clutch. If you whacked on a turbo with your stock gearbox presently you'd blow the arse out of it pretty quickly.
Pay off your loan, ditch the V6 and buy an SS, or you'll dig yourself into a giant financial hole trying to make something that's already available.

And when you wanted to sell your converted v8, that would prove a hassel

I would never buy a converted car, I don't know if the owner did the job right. And any smart buyer would think the same.
