Default Decision ahead, talk me into/ out of it

    Hey guys.

So I currently own a 2004 VY series 2 S pack commodore in Cosmos Purple, 4spd automatic, sitting on ~207,000kms. Runs great, lovely colour, sitting on Advanti 18"s. Problems: needs new suspension set up soon, hate how dirty the colour gets straight after washing it, body is far from perfect (ideally needs a new front bumper), every panel is a different colour if you look at it closely. Apart from the sound system, wheels and aftermarket fog lights it is stock. It is my first car, 2nd owner. Slightly too heavy on fuel for my liking (although it's not too bad). Mechanically sound. Body is rough around the edges, interior is still pretty good.

The decision: I can source a stock VZ SV6 that has done ~230,000kms, one owner, TURISUMO BLUE, 5spd auto, straight as hell body for roughly the same price I will sell the VY for. So, do I take the offer? Do I sell the VY and buy the VZ?

I absolutely love the Turisumo Blue colour, like :O :O My dream car would be in that colour.

VZ has more power, side airbags, LSD, paddle shifting, EBD, better headlights, tailights etc.

To add onto that, if I kept the VY I would eventually change the headlights (to Calais), tailights (VZ SS) etc.

So the question is, do I jump at the high km'd VZ and avoid all the things I need to fix on the VY and the mods I want to do to it or do I just put up with the VY money pit? No doubt the VZ will cost me more in the future if there's anything wrong with it, but I just like it A LOT more than the VY.

Eventually I would change the rims and lower the VZ, but I just feel it is a better base to build on.

Any advice, harsh words to knock me out of it etc. are appreciated in advanced.

    Cheers.

Only thing i'd be worried about is the VZ Engine with that many kms on it. Make sure the service history is spotless and even then I wouldn't be too sure. The alloytecs aren't known to be the longest lasting of engines

I'd keep the money pit, save up a few grand, and get something with lower K's, a vz gone that far will probably cost more in the long run than your vy.

And while the vz may have more kW, it's torque delivery is woeful, and won't have the same response as the 3.8. And when you do plant your foot the computer tells you to get stuffed.

If you can get something around 150,000km, that's better.

EDIT: sorry, someone posted as I was typing.
