    Default Engine

    Hi guys.

Firstly, I don't want anyone saying "It would be cheaper to buy an SS...."

What kind of cost would I be looking at to converting a VZ Executive V6 auto into a V8 manual of some sort? Either a VZ SS motor, or, Holmat do have the 6L VE for $6500....then the VE 6 Speed "TR6060" manual is just under $4K...

Would $20K be around the mark? Or would I be looking at $25/$30K?

Or, for the cheap path example. Comes with Engine/Trans, 104K kms, presume you wouldn't need to spend much on top of this? $5K - $10K extra?

The complete conversion would be upwards of 10k. i know of someone that has recently done it, although he is thrilled with having a V8, it did cost him a lot. He had done a bit of cosmetic work to his sv6 so i guess he didnt want to part with that.

Im a true believer of going for what you want, but seriously, bang for buck, and the complexity of what your trying to achieve, hands down, save yourself some $$. If you want a V8, buy one in a car already, and spend the other money left over on some wheels, suspension and a tune.. cause thats probably how much you will have left over.

Not only is it going to be cheaper, but an SS or something of that nature would be easier and far more reliable.

Goodluck with your choice, either way, im sure it will be a lot of fun..

Would be wiser not to mention much cheaper to buy a t boned or rear ended ss and swap over the running gear... that way you will have all the interior and body panels for spares... would probably cost around 6-7k at auction, then you can spend the extra 13k or so on a turbo or supercharger kit.
