    Default Extractor Installation !!

Hey guys i got some extractors already bolted to aftermarket cats and the extra bit of pipe at the end to link up to the exhaust, and yes it has the 4 oxy sensor points, plus a spare set of oxy cables, im not sure what brand it all is atm but i know its 2'5 inch... The question is can this be easily installed at home by jacking the car up and off and on so to speak, or does the engine need to be raised ??

your exhaust will just bolt on/off, you will obviously have to carefully remove the oxy sensors. Make sure you dont lose any of the rubber mounts and there respective clips

The extractor part is a pain, you need to pull a few things off the engine just to get the extractors on and off. I have a set of wildcat extractors on there at the moment, and I want the pacemaker extractors on but I just dont have the patience to do it, or the time. So until my tonner is on the road I cant afford a 1-2day job.

Man the local muffler guy said to me $130 to fit them + whatever the gasket he throws on them, maybe i should just go with that and stop being tight haha

$130 is good. Just make sure he knows you have an Alloytec. When I got the wildcat extractors installed I was quoted 200, they thought I had a V8, soon as they saw it was an alloytec it went up to 420. But I live in Darwin, its where all the dodgey mechanics go to stay in business.

He knows its an alloytec i think, well he should know cuz he weilded my exhaust tip on and then said - this car - extractors, 2 1/2 hours and $130, does sound good i guess, man things must be pricey in darwin

Darwin is just stupid for prices. When I need a professional rebuild I am actually going to drive my car down south, it will probably be cheaper even including the fuel.

I Disgaree, ive had a complete exhaust on and off the car in about 30 minutes, including extractors. Nothing needs to come off the engine either

I had to remove the steering column to replace a gasket on my extractors, there is no room in it. Plus you want your car sitting for atleast half a day else you will burn yourself (I have done that alot)

Perhaps you need to reshape the way you extract your extractors

Wouldnt going in from the top be harder ? I was thinking of just jacking the front up and working under there... Uhm, do u guy happen to know the torque setting for the bolts ? And should i buy a new set of bolts to be safe ??

Chances are it probably is, but I have a home made bash plate under my car that is a pain to put back on (took it off road managed to get the only stick into my sump so I made a bash plate).

They're extractors not heads. Old bolts will be fine, as long as they haven't been stretched for damaged. And you can go by feel for the torque, just don't use a breaker bar on em.

You may need to make some changes to the cat pipes, fit flanges perhaps.. Otherwise, your gaskets are reusable or some may come with the pacemakers.

I think after all thats been said and a few people warning me if something goes wrong im stuffed, so my muffler guy is gonna do it this tuesday for between $180 - $250 with gaskets supplied if needed... Anyone know what brand of extractors these are just by looking ? Ive found no real marks on them to indicate any branding, i dot even know if the cats that came with it are aftermarket or what lol, but there is heatshields on them so idk... Picked it all up for $300 with the sensors though, so im not complaining, and ive painted them black since then too...

Not sure what brand they are, Hurricane and Pacemaker use that colour blue, but they are not either of those.

Good call getting the exhaust guy to fit them, they can be a pain if you haven't done them before. Especially the RHS. There are two bolts that are awkward to get out on the RHS, the very front and the very rear. A water pipe is in the way on the rear and the alternator bracket is in the way on the front one. 9 times out of 10 the rack has to be dropped to get the RHS in as it won't go in from the top because of the ABS unit.

    The cats are aftermarket too.

Got the extrators put in for $220 (so cheap) !! I have to say the car feels and sounds so much better !!! I recommend this to anyone, the sound is sooo much better than the standard cat back only systems, thanks for your help everyone !! Only bad thing i can say is that 'raspy' sound in the higher revs kinda sucks, but low revs sounds like a V8 !!

For $220 i doubt you will get much power from them, they will sound better, but it doesn't take tuned extractors to do that. Depends what you want.

Whether they cost $2 or $2000 they all do pretty much the same thing. Some work better than others, but the quality is dependent on price, not the "power".
