    Default vz ss clutch

    Hi guys

when my vz 5.7L 6sp man is under high revs (4500rpm+) then chaining gear the clutch sometimes drops a bit lower then the usual spot when releasing the clutch and other times a bit higher then the ussual spot if you get what i mean?

This Only happens under higher RPM. when driving it like a nun its perfectly fine?

Ive only recently purchased the car so i still have the dealer 3month warranty, just wondering what you guys think?

If you can get a clutch out if them do it. They're expensive.

I would guess they'll say a clutch is normal maintenance though

unless its a direct gearbox issue, i'd say no just like m1lky...
it would come under a wear and tear item

Im not trying to get a new clutch out of the dealer. was just wondering what the actual problem might be - besides "just replacing the clutch", unless of course thats what is needed.

Please explain "clutch drops a bit lower"

    Edit: all good, I understand.

basically changing up a gear at high rpm (4500rpm+) once i changed the gear (eg from 2nd to 3rd) once i release the clutch it doesn't return to the usual point when the clutch is out, then when i change to the next gear (eg 3rd to 4th) it returns to the original point. make a bit more sense?

I think ill get the dealer ship or my mechanic to bleed the clutch & change clutch fluid as it looks a bit discoloured. any other things to check?

Hi, I have had this problem with my car, my mechanic said that the standard clutch in the VZ has a spring in the assembly that causes it to do that, im sure if you rang any of the performance shops they would explain it better, what I did was upgraded the whole thing, lightened chrome molly fly wheel, organic pressure plate, new clutch cylinder thing, and replaced clutch fluid, cost around 2 Grand to do but the difference is amazing.

Hey mate, sorry it took a while to respond - didnt realise any body had responded after my last post lol.

If its something todo with a spring which is what it feels like id rather replace then then do the whole clutch upgrade as im a bit strapped for cash atm

meh I wouldnt worry about it, mine does it occasionally and its held on for 170,000kms so far and still doesnt slip. Thats with around 315rwhp.

Dont waste money replacing it till it fails ie slips or destroys itself or you do some serious power upgrades.

Cheers mate, clutch doesn't slip or shutter at all, so that's why I'm wondering if it's only a spring or something minor to replace

The spring is built into the flywheel.

Look on you tube for dual mass flywheel it will explain how it works.

The V8s do not have a dual mass flywheel.

So it could be something to do with the spring inside the fly wheel or the fly wheel its self :S
