I checked before posting could not find my answer.

173000k When I put the boot down hard all the way after up changing to 2nd or 3rd (AUTO)the gearbox goes into some weird surge like it's stuck in gear takes a few seconds to sort itself out anyone got any ideas or same issue and what the issue is here is there a problem been like it for as long as I can remember just have not concerned before but now pisses me off

is it holding in gear a little too long? have you had a service on it at all?

I think a full trans service (lubes changed at least) should be done at 150k kms. If that hasn't been done or you're not sure, take it to an auto specialist and have them do it. They can also take it on a good roadtest to diagnose and scan for error codes.

when you say surge - do you mean the engine rev's up and there is no marked acceleration to accompany the extra rpm? if so the gear box is flaring, I would take it to a trans specialst and tell them what is happening and see if they can fix it, could be a simple service and adjustment or could be a sign of the times and a complete rebuild in order.
