I've got a leak on the top of the fueltank where the hose from the filler neck is attached. Holden dealer told me I had to buy a new tank. Has anyone got a quick fix. I may cut the breather pipe of and fit some sort of a fitting going tru the pump cover. Anyone got a better idea?
It seems that the filler neck has been hit or is flexing and this has caused the connection to crack.
Bad news is that it will only get worse. It is very dangerous to try and weld up. You can try various goops but all will ultimately fail. What your dealer said is correct, a replacement tank is the best/safest option.
A tank from a wrecker may also do, but really clean it out and inspect before installing. Have a look at PPC Tank Clean or similar to clean out.
I was once told that petrol vapour is 10 times more explosive than dynamite (by weight), either way it's not something to mess with.
