I had a cracked timing chain tensioner, made the car sound like a tractor.

    Wow it's extremely clean. How???
Not sure if Iv asked you this but did u replace the whole lot: chains, guides, tensioners?
And did u use an aftermarket kit or genuine.

I currently have the same problem.
    Sounds like a diesel engine.

Heres the link with vidz of the sounds aswell if anyone would like a listen.

Will you please spend a few bucks and fix it instead of whining in every thread related to your problem.

    Bro whats it to u??
I got to do my research and sh!t
Money isn't the issue at all actually, it's finding the right info before I rush into sumthing.
I'm making sure this gets done rite so I dont end up with the same problem 2 month later cause of lack of info.
I wasn't whining bout jack I was asking wether it was replaced as a kit or just the chains.

no i didnt replace the lot, just the broken tensioner, Clean?? well there is no way of it getting dirty i guess, hidden behind the timing cover.

As for your case, no one will know the bare reason yours sounds like it does untill they see what is there in front of you... (why i posted this thread is for you mainly) refer to, might spark someones interest...

I suggest you replace only what's broken or whats needed to, there is no need to replace anything else... if your in brisbane, it would pay to visit Matt stocker Automotive, he did the repair on mine, he will probably remember it.. just mention 'daves' tensioner. If anyone, i reckon he would be the bloke to speak to, sound very similiar to my issue.

As for crustin, mate hack someone else's thread to bit's, im with cap, who cares how much he asks or what he does, as above i mainly posted this thread for his attention... there is too many forum warriors here already

Labour more so... it takes a good few hours to remove/reinstall all the pulleys and bits onto the timing cover. i saved myself about $500 by pulling everything i could apart

I thought it looked extra clean cause i was comparing it with this engine. Lol
This is an alloytec I bought extremely cheap to play around with.

This thread sure did spark my interest. Thanks
The car is in getting fixed as we speak, should hopefully get it back by late tmrw.
I'm getting the complete timing chain kit replaced for my peace of mind.

Unfortunately I'm in Melbourne and had a choice between Holden or a performance shop.
I ended up going with the performance shop as they are close to me.

And thank you kind sir, at least some people still remember what this forum is mainly for.
    Questionsss, answers, help and support.

    Cheers
    Dave.

I was with cap and wanted to help, but at some point you have to bite the bullet and give it a go. And in caps instance its better sooner than later. I realise it was caps right to do whatever, just got a bit frustrated.

    Thanks man, I appreciate it.

I got it off eBay for like $200 it has everything on it Aircon Comp, Waterpump, PowerSteering, inlet manifold, all the sensors, elec throttle body. The whole lot.

I always practice on it before I touch my car.

    Ok lil update:
My babii went under operation this morning and won't be due out till late tmrw or on thursday.

Here is a video I took that explains all the rattley noise that was happing in the previous vids.
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=x1sHG...e_gdata_player

Now when I visited at around 4:30 I saw arteries everywhere and was shattered.

Was very happy to see that my very so often oil changes paid off with a clean result internally.
    Rocker covers:

    Will be visiting again tmrw.
