Default VZ Berlina lowering onto King SL's

My mate has just got a cheap but genuine set of almost-new King Superlows for his VZ Berlina, the car is completely stock:
When we put the springs in, is it absolutely necessary to replace shocks and/or any other suspension parts?

It's not absolutely necessary but new shocks should provide a better ride and from what i hear overtime the shocks always being compressed isn't too good for them. For the record i'll be lowering my vz berlina and won't bother with the shocks for a while.

Absolutely neccessary? No. Recommended? Yes. The lower springs will prematurely wear out the standard height shocks, cause a harsher ride and compromise handling. Had brand new (stock height) shocks and SL springs in my VS and it wasn't the easiest ride. Same with my mates VZ SV6, crashes around and fairly unstable through corners.

IMO, any lowering should be complemented by shorter shocks, if not for anything else but safety - if the handling is compromised, more chance of loosing control of the car.

As for other components, most will wear out that bit quicker with lower (read, harsher) suspension.
