Hi there. Have a question about what oil to use now my vz has come out off its warranty period. Castrol Magnatec 10W-30 has always been used since new. Now i am on my own on servicing it i have had different opinions on what to use now. The car has done 75,000 klms VZ wagon with the standard alloytec engine. Dont know if i should go with a 5W-30 or stick with a 10W-30 magnatec or what. There is a Castrol Magnatec fuel saver 5W-30 or a Castrol 10W-30 Modern engine oil. About $25 difference in price. Can anyone assure me which way to go from now up to 150,000klms. CHEERS Richo
Go with at least 10w30, 10w40 if you live in the heat. The manufacturer will recommend the thinnest oil they can, going thinner won't help. And at near 100,000 I'd be using 10w40.

give everything a spray with wd40 wheels brakes that should fix the squeaks
this topic comes up from time to time and everyone offers their differing expert opinions.
Ive always used Magnatec 10w30 in the Acclaim, now with 192 000 on it and its survived 2 track days, 3 skid pan days and a driver training day.
Magnatec also in the Adventra, 130 00 on it which is used to tow a 2 tonne boat, and Magnatec in the Equipe with 121 000 - no issues in any of these 3 cars 2 of which cop more punishment then the run if the mill car.
